Defining realistic can be up to you.
Just curious about some action movies that have a very real life feel to them, without too much or any movie magic.

There has been several.
Saving Private Ryan is up there.
Behind the Green Door is a close second.

Die Hard. I could imagine that's how a smart, tough cop would handle himself. Plus, Bruce Willis takes realistic injuries in the movie. Of course, each movie in the series got sillier and sillier.

Open Range had a lot of missed shots in the main gun fight.

One of the best gunfights ever recorded on film. Close range and most shots missing is spot on.
Very accurate pardon the pun
Lots of gun smoke which few show. Windows in town not perfectly clear. Just so well done.
Never can not watch when its on.

Never been in a gunfight, kickboxing tourney and damn sure not in space, but Gravity was pretty mindblowing. Fire, sound, intertia etc. all looked like the director & production design did a lot of homework. I wouldn't say the same for some of the dialogue but the storyboarding of the action sequences was unlike anything I've ever seen.

quote:The fact that you think those injuries and his reactions to them were realistic is adorable.

Gettysburg. It was as exactly how I remembered.

One of my only quibbles with the movie is it violates the "Equal and Opposite Reaction" Newtonian Law with the shotgun blast. (The guy shot by the shotgun flies through the air from the impact. The shooter should fly the same distance the opposite direction)
But, great movie. I also watch it every time it comes on.

People choosing action movies based on true stories are copping out bad.
Anyway I would go for Road House or (in an effort to choose a legit action movie) Predator. Yes, aliens are real.
