Not getting much help in the outdoor board. Looking to get an entry level ztr mower to cut approx an acre of land. Was wanting a 42" mower and have a budget of around 3000. Have looked at toro and hustler but have no experience in this field. Thanks.

For the price, you can't go wrong with a Hustler

I was looking at the hustler raptor any thoughts?

Find a dealer you want to deal with on parts and service and buy from them. Make sure you get an all welded deck, not stamped. Check into warranty length, what's covered and who's gonna do the repairs (see dealer comment). Kawasaki Engine, most will have the Kawasaki FR in that price range. Most will also have Hydrogear EZT tranmissions also in that $3K price range. I have experience with both Hustler and Toro and I'd recommend Hustler Raptor over the Toro Timecutter. Based on overall customer satisfaction and warranty repair rates we see here.

I have a cub cadet 50" that i bought about 3 - 4 years ago. I love it. It cut my grass cutting time down from about 5 hours(42" JD reg mower) to 1.5 hours. I mow about 1.75 acres and have about 25 trees to go around.
It was about 3k back then.

Most cheap mowers have stamped decks

I have a Hustler Raptor 52". I would definitely recommend it. With the Raptor you might as well buy the 52 over the 42 though. There was only a $200 price difference when I bought mine

I would bump up to around $4K and get a commercial grade. Will last you a ton longer.

You're looking at 6-10k for a commercial

Was also looking at the bad boy mx. The 21 hp version is 2999. Any thoughts

You can buy a commercial grade 42-48 for $4K around here. Snapper Pro, ExMark, Ferris. I see them onsale for $3500 periodically.

My Dad has the smallest Bad Boy. Built like a tank. Great value for the money. He cuts close to 3 acres.

I got a Toro 3 years ago, nothing but trouble after the first year....when warranty ran out of course.

Had a Gravely now for 5-6 years, about half of which it was mowing 4-5 yards a week for each mowing season. It's got issues from wear and tear, but for the price paid and the work put on it. Contemplating buying a new ztr myself in the next month or so.

I was in the market for a ZTR a few years ago. Decided to stick with conventional lawn tractor due to weight considerations. Look closely at the specs on the models you've selected. Some of those things weigh 1,100 - 1,200 pounds. I was concerned about rutting up my yard during wet periods.
