When will Louisiana Produce a elite pro style QB?

I know brandon harris is a hell of a talent. But are the days of producing QB' s like texas or Cali over with? Im guessing that Louisiana high schools put their best athlete at qb. Which doestnt translate into a good passer most of the time. Will this trend continue to hinder LSU getting really good QB's out of La?

Brandon Harris had 3500 passing yards and 37 passing TDs his senior year alone.......

There is a great young QB at Riverside, Deuce Wallace.

recruiting site policy is to put all black qbs as dual threat, Harris is a pro style qb

considering the NFL is going to QBs that can throw and run, I would say he is most certainly "pro style"

For a long time, California was way ahead of Texas in producing passing quarterbacks. Texas and OU were winning and running the wishbone, and consequently so were the high schools. I can still hear the "old school" Texas high school coaches talking about the evils of pass happy offenses. Then in the mid to late '90s, the UIL (Texas's high school athletics governing body) approved of 7 on 7 passing camps. One reason was the college demand for passing quarterbacks. Almost 20 years later, and you see the results.
In Louisiana, a lot of the great high school programs are still running the veer or similar "run" oriented offenses, but there have always been "pass" oriented offenses, and you're gradually seeing more quarterback development with our 7 on 7 camps. Many of the older coaches just don't want to put their fate in the arm of a quarterback. The logic is that you may have a great passing quarterback in school this year, but next year you may not. If only you could recruit in high school...

Brock Berlin (1999) - USA Today and Gatorade National POY
Josh Booty (1994) - USA Today Offensive Player of the Year and was named the National High School Player of the Year by at least six associations
John David Booty (2002 ? ) - extremely talented, yet no National accolades b/c he left HS after graduating during his Jr year. Basically he played 3 yrs of HS at Evangel and went straight to USC where he backed up Leinart
as others have mentioned, it's cyclical

The Bootys were not elite even though pretty good. Elite is like Terry Bradshaw,Joe Ferguson,Bert Jones, and a short list of others.

I forgot the Mannings and Super Bowl MVP for the Redskins Doug Williams ! 4 out of 7 MVP's is not bad for Louisiana QB's.

In retrospect this was one of the dumbest moves ever. You take away a kid's senior year and he becomes a life long back up at USC.
