Chromosome Study: All Men Can Be Traced to One Man

This is not a new study, but I thought it might be a relevant topic for discussion given the Nye/Ham thread we have going. Basically, this study concluded that the DNA of all men can be traced back to a single man, and that he existed at the same time as the mother of all women.
Now, I have always found this to be very interesting. If the Theory of Evolution is correct, doesn't it seem strange that a random process would've created only one man and one woman? I think this study raises a lot of questions, none of which were addressed in the other thread.
Note: I think the person who wrote this article may have taken a liberty or two with what the findings of this study actually are, but regardless, the results of the study are illuminating, imo.

You should always read the entire article:

They weren't the first modern humans on the planet, but instead just the two out of thousands of people alive at the time with unbroken male or female lineages that continue on today.

Why does there have to be a conflict between God and Science? I've never understood the need to belong to one camp or the other.

These primeval people aren't parallel to the biblical Adam and Eve. They weren't the first modern humans on the planet, but instead just the two out of thousands of people alive at the time with unbroken male or female lineages that continue on today.

Yeah, this isn't weird. Ever heard of genetic bottlenecks?

I thought we were the result of a monkey having sex with a pig.

Hmmm......the virtual extinction of the population. That's an interesting dynamic, in and of itself. Any thoughts on what would've caused that?
