I don't get people saying pedophiles. I've never heard anyone sticking up for a pedophile. They're a pretty unanimously despised group of people.

Let me preface this by saying I believe the government should get out of the marriage game and all consenting adults should have the right to enter into a marriage contract. I have no problem with gay people or their rights to marry or anything of that nature.
I have little doubt that in my lifetime there will be a sizable movement to remove the social taboo from people with sexual urges directed towards minors. The polygamy thing is a given IMO (and I;m fine with it).
The issue is, how long before people realize that the majority of folks in human history were perfectly ok with a 10 year old marrying a 40 year old? This idea that 18 is the legal age of consent is very limited and very arbitrary. These things will all be questioned, especially once we show that such urges are on some level biological.

Well, we have a much better understanding of psychology and the brain than we did back 300 years ago. We know how much it fricks a kid's mind up when they're sexually abused. I'd say it's possible to lower it down to 16 (which is the case in multiple states), but I can't see it going any lower than that. A 15 year old should not be fricking a 35 year old. The fact that a guy in his 20s and beyond would want to do this is simply sickening.

The APA almost changed it this year. It has a lot of tracktion in canada too.
If the APA changes it from it's current medical state to a sexual orientation, the legal battles will begin for acceptance.
WIthin 10 years you will see it change in parts of the world.
