UCLA has a totally different feel. It's campus is amazing, and impressive. I mean come on, your're basically talking about going to college in Beverly Hills. The student body does have a very low percentage of black population, however has a very strong ethnic appeal.

I think Mora Jr., may there to stay for awhile, as it is a good place to coach, plus he essentially reinvented himself there, and they've extended him.

The downside to kids not from there is it's an unfamiliar feel in more ways than one. The buildings out there are older, though nice. Alot of buildings out there have no a/c etc. It's a different feel, and it's not home.

With Kenny, it's going to come down to whether or not he feels like he can adjust to being in a totally different culture, along ways from home, or not. If he feels that for whatever reason, he needs to "get away" than we don't have a very good chance. If he feels like he wants to as he put it "be comfortable" and stay home than we have a great shot. It may come down to what's in his gut and how feels when he wakes up Wednesday morning. We will know for sure by 9:30 am.

I still feel he is no worse than 50/50.
Malachi is close to a lock, so that can't hurt.

I would never second guess a recruits decision to attend UCLA or any other school if his reasons are "the football program" in general, academics, location, etc. However, I think it is foolish for a recruit to choose a school solely because of a coach (e.g., Jim Mora Jr.).

In the end, that recruit better still be happy with their decision if the coach decided to leave the day after signing day.

To Kenny Young or anyone else, I'd say: "If Mora left today, would you still sign with UCLA?" If the answer is no, then you shouldn't sign with them to begin with.

Considering the cost of living in Cali would require an LSU guy earning $46,900 to earn an additional $9,496, the LSU degree gives its bearer an equivalent salary of $57,396 or about 10% more than the UCLA doofus. Now, how much more valuable is that UCLA degree?

Yes, UCLA is a better school than LSU, but how relevant is that to college football players from Louisiana? If LSU football doesn't pan out for a kid, an LSU degree and the "fame" of being a former football player will carry a lot of weight in Louisiana. Conversely, if a Louisiana kid goes out to California and doesn't pan out, who's going to bend over backwards to land him a job? UCLA fans aren't nearly as passionate about football as LSU fans, and the economy here is much healthier to go along with a grossly lower cost of living. Plus, I imagine L.A. has one of the highest transplant populations in the country, so it's not like there's just Bruins in hiring positions. Baton Rouge is a much smaller market with a higher percentage of folks that are born and raised in Louisiana that consequently love LSU football.

Now someone like Dupre that has connections in L.A. and aspirations of working in sports management/marketing/whatever will have a ton of options in California with an UCLA degree, but generally speaking I believe an LSU degree in Louisiana can offer a former athlete more than just about any other school.

What if Young doesn't want to be in Louisiana. I love my state, but it's not for everyone. If he wants to move away try living in Cali, that fine. And it's not like he's blackballed from coming back to Louisiana. Plenty of other people from Louisiana who have gone to school elsewhere come to this state for jobs.
