why no d linemen?

I just want to know why LSU can not get any of these top d-linemen to commit? With all of the d linemen we have put in the nfl, it makes no sense to me, especially with lack of depth we will have after 2014 season. Can someone shed some light on this? I am watching 2 former tigers plsy for san francisco right now!

you don't follow recruiting much, do you

Top DL in the state this year.... Willis and Godchaux. Godchaux is committed. LSU did everything it could to reel in Willis, but he is LC brother. Also have a good chance with Valentine and Speaks.
And we dont have a lack of depth at the DL position for next year. Inexperienced yes. But we have good depth. And remember the name Bain.

If you're good, you go to the NFL. It doesn't matter which school you go to.

We may have too much depth honestly considering the way we've recruited so well these last couple of years. Unless they're elite prospects they may never see the field.

While the # of players we've sent to the NFL is a nice talking point, in the end, no one really cares. A player can get to the NFL from any big D 1 program. Recruits don't care as much about that stuff as you do.

Somewhat true. But mostly erroneous

Right. Anyone ignoring a good S&C program, and the coaching that can underscore leverage and technique is a tard. There is a reason Moffitt says DL, more than other positions, need development.

Exactly. You could put the same exact caliber prospect at LSU, then put another at Northwestern & there is no guarantee that they will leave college at the exact same level.
To say the NFL "finds good players"....WEll of course they do....After 4 years of college. To act like development plays no part is stupid. Exposure is somewhat important as well.

There should never be a recruiting cycle without bringing in several linemen no matter offensive or defensive. The line is where the games are won. And lost.

Pretty much any good division 1 school and most division 2 schools have top notch strength and conditioning programs. A top DL could go to just about any schools and just as easily find his way into the NFL. It's not really a factor for the top players but LSU has a good staff and good facilities that attracts its' share of top players. It's just that some players prefer other schools or want to get out of state.

I watched Demaryius Thomas today and thought about Calvin Johnson.
How much do you think Paul Johnson's offensive genius played a part in their development?
Just doesn't make sense that the NFL's premier receivers are GT products.

i see what youre saying.
calvin played for chan gailey
Demaryius' talent was quite apparent, even in that system though.

Does everyone forget we signed 7 d lineman last year? DL was not a huge priority this year. We only expected to sign 4 possibly 5 this year. I believe we'll finish with that amount
