Seemed like the freak in his underwear at the end of the trailer for the next episode had on some type of mask.

I think he's a meth cooker. He has an army breathing mask and is only wearing his underwear. Whether he has also taken the young kids in the woods, or was doping them, or he's the murderer remains to be seen. Maybe he is the guy arrested for the first killings.

"Episode 2: What's the meaning of the Owl?"

The owl is there to symbolize the question of how many licks it took Woody to get to the center of Alexandria Daddario

I've always heard that if you see an Owl in the daylight it's a sign of Death.

I know they said they used owls on set to keep the other small birds (meadowlarks, maybe?) away.
The smaller birds make filming more difficult.

I thought it was "girls in the woods"? I thought that was a reference to the whore compound that they described as being out in the woods?

Nah, didn't he mention a throwdown in the woods or something happening in the wood with the kids?

definitely was kids in the woods, not girls in the woods. he's not talking about the whorehouse.

Dunno if this has been mentioned but I think the two verses on the wall in the burned down church were Mark 1:40 (Jesus healing a leper) and Judges 16:30 (Sampson destroying the temple). Not sure if these are real clues or just fluff.

Lots of clues everywhere. I feel like I need to watch every episode at least three times.

Yeah, that's what I thought. It seems plausible that it goes back to the church/cult thing with the black stars and the King in Yellow.

I'm not sure, I'll try to look into that.

One quote that stuck with me was "why wouldn't a father bathe his own child?" when they were talking to Dora's mom.
