neither Rust or Marty are the killer. It would be just too fricking stupid, and I trust HBO to not be that stupid.

A serial killer has been killing young ladies (possible prostitutes/drug users) around the Jennings area. Hadn't been any more since maybe 07. Some believe it is a cop doing the killings.
Since Pizzolata is from LC, I wonder if the story/area planted a seed for the procedural.

A serial killer in the Jennings area. Victims are prostitutes, drug addicts and assorted low lifes. Bodies are usually dumped in rice fields, canals etc... Popular theory is that the killer is a cop that works the area from Jennings to Kinder.

Anyone subscribe to r/TrueDetective? There's some good discussion and observations on there.

Well based on the allusions to "The King in Yellow", I think there are several people in the area that are insane and engaged in potentially cultish activity. The person convicted of the earlier activities may in fact be guilty, the new activity may in fact be new operatives.

Rust Cohle may in fact be slightly insane, partially resulting from his own personal nature, his previous extreme illicit drug activity, and perhaps somewhat aided by what he has witnessed or "learned" during his investigation into the cult.
Remember his quote about his hallucinations? I paraphrase, "Sometimes I feel like I am going insane, sometimes I feel like I am mainlining all the universe's truths". It could be that finding out the universe's truths is too much for humans to handle........ Just saying.
Signed,
The King in Yellow (aka: Hastur)

haven't watched this yet because I don't have HBO, but reading this thread has me wondering (again I only know what I'm reading on here) …was the time difference from the old cases they are referring to that they took kids out of the woods on, was it far enough back where any surviving kid could be old enough to be repeating such crimes ?

Yes, this would seem to be a possibility, although we do not know exact ages of the children. Seems like 10-15 years have passed (not sure though and not looking it up).

Good episode overall. Idk who the actress playing the naked chick was but um yeah more of her in every show ever made from now on

We don't know when exactly the kids were abducted, but yes, it is feasible.

Anyone else have to explain that this was not the KKK to your Alabama friends.

Cajun Mardi Gras, the whole series of TREME was planned in advance to give you insight on this for True Detective.

If this is true, then the whole Cajun MG theme must figure in prominently to the upcoming story.........
Very interesting.
