White, male, 100% Cajun roots traceable back to Nova Scotia
Born to a lifetime hunter. Dad was in rehab from brain surgery that left him paralyzed on his entire left side when I was born. He is still twice the outdoorsman most are. He taught me more than I could want to know, and both my grandpaws taught me even more. I've been blessed to have a great relationship with my dad and with both my grandpaws.
Born and raised in Dutchtown and watched it grow from a quaint little town to an overcrowded suburb. It sucks.

35 born and raised in rural Acadia Parish. I got my first firearm at the age of 6: a Daisy lever action BB killing machine. Graduated to a pellet gun at 8 and that's when the rabbit and snake populations diminished tremendously. Where I grew up was surrounded by rice, crawfish, corn, milo, soybeans, and sweet potato acreage. Mostly crawfish and rice though. We had plenty of water moccasins to eliminate.
My dad would take us "hunting" along the Bayou Plaquemine. Basically, we'd walk the woods with his .22 and 410 looking for rabbits and such. Paw paw took us dove hunting in Lewisburg and sac-a-lait fishing in the basin.
Went off to college and hadn't shot a gun in years until about 4 years ago. I bought a Henry .22 to target practice and my dad gave me his Remington 742 .308 Woodsmaster as a bribe to go deer hunting with him. Went last year in Texas and got a spike.
I missed the tranquility of being in the woods and wanted to refresh my skills so I could teach my boys the right way to be.
Time will tell but I know what the outdoors has done for me.

Denham Sprangs
First deer at 5 yo with a .410, first with a bow at 10. Hunt deer and turkeys primarily. Still hunt and fish with my pop and brother every weekend. Pop is old-school redneck from Mississippi. His grandparents were Coonasses from S Lafourche, but somehow ended up in Mississippi. Mom's folks were about 3/4 French folk, 1/4 Irish. All grandparents and great grandparents were either farmers or school teachers.
Went to college for about 8 years, have a couple degrees. Wish I would have gone into the Army at 18, got out, farmed tomatoes and fished commercially for a living.
Have a coonass wife and 3 little redneck/coonass girls. My 4 year old daughter will catch more lizards than any 10 year old boy around.
Edit: I'm 33. Frick.

Age: 64 at end of month
Raised in a farming community south of Alexandria LA.
Had a BB gun at age 6 for birds and a 20 gauge at 10 for squirrels, rabbits, and doves. No deer until I reached high school. My Dad started me early hunting and fishing but like all country boys we also learned on our own.
Ended up in Lafourche Parish after school to work as a marine biologist with the state, and now retired.
Own 5 pistols, four shotguns, six big game rifles of 5 calibers, two rim fire rifles, and one BB gun; also own thousands and thousands of pistol, rifle, and shotgun ammo.
Deer hunting is a major passion as I hunt in N LA, Lafourche Parish, and Amite County MS.
Also love to fish and have a fishing camp in Lafourche Parish just north of Catfish Lake.

29 born in Nola, grew up in the dell, an now reside in walker
I'd much rather do the more social activities like fishing and duck hunting. Been fishing since before I can remember, had the pleasure of learning to fish from my dad. We fished Venice almost exclusively; but now I have ventured out to other areas. Also remember duck hunting areas in red pass with my dad and paw paw in the morning and fishing the mouth and catching king mackerels that afternoon.
Now that I'm getting to be an old man, I'm just counting the days down til I can start bringing my 16 month old daughter out on the boat and teach her all that I have learned over the years.
I :yak: and fish penn spinfisher reels and shimano baitcasters, and I shoot with the poor mans ole reliable Remington 870
Thankful for all that God has blessed me with, especially of a dad who knew how to hunt and fish and wanted nothing more than to share his knowledge with his kids

I'm a gainfully employed 35 year old colored man. I have a wife, son, part lab part beagle bitch, and a prized 32# miniature dachshund that will eat your arse alive if you look at him in a weird manner much less show up here uninvited. I have stock in Heinz 57 and have known to put it on my fajitas, tacos, fried fish/ corn fritters/ burritos out of a hot box/ fried chicken/ meatloaf/ chili/ frito pie/ cheese sticks/ mini taquitos/ mini tacos at Melvyn's/ hot dogs/ and play old ketchup. My gun collection consists of a Taurus Judge, Glock 1911, and a 243 rifle.

Guaranteed you must know a few of my people
Posted on 1/15/14 at 11:22 pm to RollTide MJ
35, tenth generation Mississippian, come from a family of seafood workers, fishermen, cops, and teachers. Half the fam's from NOLA and New Iberia, learned fishing from my mom's father. Dad's side was always into guns and shooting, but strangely he hardly hunts and never fishes, trying to get him into it before he's too old. Hunting comes naturally but learned a lot from my redneck buddies and gun safety/handling in Boy Scouts of all places.
