Probably would have been the best running back the Dolphins had ever seen....I know many other Fins fans who think the same.

Hill is better. Both similar in ability to break tackles and go all the way. IMO, Collins was the best until Hill. Hill is the best RB LSU has had since Billy Cannon.

Auburn game 1997

Miss State game was impressive the week before, but this game, really blew people away.

Cecil was fricked up in the head. I'm a person that believes you cannot rehabilitate peeping toms, rapists, child molesters. Cecil has that craziness in him.

That said, his RB talent was legit. I believe he would have been great, except 3 games isn't a career.

Think about these 3 greats: Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Bo Jackson. Who ya got? On talent you have to take Barry and Bo. But who is the all-time leading rusher in the NFL? Emmitt.

Hill is a special back, no doubt. But Cecil was elite potential.

Like someone previously stated, the sample size is so small that the legend has grown over the years.

If I had to assemble an all LSU team to play one game then Cecil is my RB. No doubt about it.

Saw him in HS and college and he just seemed to be on another level.

Ill just say this. Collins went to jail didnt do shite but sent in a cell. Got out and made an NFL team and were reports he would be the starter by mid season.

Also, Auburns defense had been incredible during this era and hadn't allowed a team to rush for 100yds for a very long time. Collins ran through them like they were a JV team and there were a lot of future NFL players on that D

Yeah, it was weird because he really didn't seem like a gigantic thug...was always smiling and stuff.

But you know he was crazy. He got one of the stiffest sentences I've ever seen for breaking in and watching someone sleep. It was for the best though because he was definitely going nowhere good and was probably gonna do some real bad stuff (surprised he didn't). Dude claimed he was "sleepwalking"...serious. I read an interview recently where he said the prison sentence was for the best because he probably would be dead or be a complete wreck with the road he was on.

Because he had 600 yards in 4 games. He averaged over 8 yards a carry. The man was an amazing running back and Hill, while great, is nowhere near as talented as Collins.

Collins played behind a much better OL. Big advantage for a RB to have a bunch of stud NFL players blocking for him.

Collins was a tremendous talent; he might well have been the best LSU ever had including the talented Hill. The Diesel threw it all away. I hope Jeremy keeps his nose clean for the rest of his time at LSU so that he will be a first round draft choice.

Collins' nickname was earned, it was not hype. The best RB I have ever seen at LSU.
