Alrighty...I've been lurking in this thread for years, but need some advice. We're finishing up a home renovation and close on the refi at the end of the month.
By that point, we will have hit the maximum benefit threshold on our existing DL Plat Amex, and have already churned through the SW RR cards to get me companion pass.
What's available for us? I wish the Marriott 100k bonus was another month longer, but I need to wait until the house closes to open up anymore lines.
AmEx Biz plat is at 100K right now until 8/8. Needs 25K in spend within 3 months. Could look into that. Gives you SkyClub/Centurion/Priority Pass access. Also get the 35% rebate on points when booking F/J flights

It really depends on what you are looking for in rewards and being able to meet min spend ans FICO.

I got my cash back match from Discover this month. $286 dollars
That is pretty incredible for a free card.

Rux what's contact info? I've got a personal AA mailer that I can't use.

That $25k would be a stretch.

Cardmatch is supposedly pumping out 100k Personal Platinum again if you get lucky.
Not sure I mentioned that.

Didn't get it...but I think I'm going to do the following over the next few months:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve & Business Ink Preferred for me
- Chase Sapphire Preserve & Business Ink Preferred for wife
That should net us 260k UR Points.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

Couple notes:
If you aren't keeping CSR, look at doing Preferred instead. For the most part the bonuses have been equal. Unless you really use the Global Entry etc Reserve offers, the CSP offer will be superior because a lot of those offers come without the annual $95 fee the first year.
So it will look something like this:
Both offer 50k points.
Reserve costs $450 fee - $300 travel credit = $150 first year.
Preferred = $95 fee waived first year = $0.
Also, even if Chase doesn't mention it in the offer, they usually hand out 5,000 points if you add an AU and they make a purchase. If you have enough room under 5/24, your wife and you can add each other as AUs for an additional easy 10,000 points total. Then, message Chase to remove each other as AUs to clear your credit report for 5/24 purposes in the future.
Of course, if one offers a clearly superior bonus go with that one.

What's the cheapest award travel to Tokyo using Chase points?
Posted on 7/18/18 at 6:57 pm to GenesChin
The least points needed one I've been reading about lately would be Virgin Atlantic Flying Club to use on ANA.

Is there a way to see points cost on Iberia Avios (without having enough points already in your account to cover the itinerary) that I'm not seeing?
I swear, this is reminding me why I generally either pay for my flights or take my 1.5x redemption with my Reserve and call it a day...

I haven't messed with that one. I believe they are distance based so you could use Great Circle Mapper to figure it out
Posted on 7/21/18 at 10:52 pm to Teddy Ruxpin
Apparently, Iberia doesn’t do the standard crazy fuel surcharges Avios is known for, and the lady wants to go to Spain...
Posted on 7/21/18 at 11:47 pm to Joshjrn
Ya that's the big win with them.
You would be on one of the Madrid flights I assume. VABuckeye booked ilIberia to Spain so try to troll him here or on travel board.

Did you sign up for an Iberia Plus account? If you did you should be able to see the cost in Avios on the site. Forewarning. It's a quirky site sometimes.
Login in. Select travel and fill in departure and destination cities and dates. There should be a box to pay with Avios to check.
ETA: Iberia also posts on their site the peak and off peak dates for better Avios redemptions. Remember to avoid any flight on BA like the plague to avoid the fuel surcharges.

I created an account, went through the steps of choosing my legs, clicked “view” of whatever the button was, and got a pop up saying that I didn’t have enough points in my account, and gave me the options of paying without Avios or choosing a “more economical itinerary” ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Iberia is a standard distance based chart so you can prob see any information you want from their award charts. The other major factor is Peak vs Off Peak.
For ball park, it was 34k for a business class MAD - JFK booking when I made mine. Think premium economy was ~24.
If you’re looking for partner (non-BA Oneworld) awards, you need to book RT.

You probably need a few Acios in your account to activate it. I think I purchased 100 Avios. I know you need a few Avios in the account before you transfer BA Avios into your Iberia bucket.

Have you looked into this at all Gene?
I'm booking Japan also for 2019. I was just looking into Teddy's recommendation and while ANA does have good value point wise (around 50,000 points round trip out of the west coast) their fees seem to eat up that value at over $250 in fees.
I'm seeing similar flights straight off of the UR portal in the 35,000 point range with zero fees.
I'm sure the airlines are a bit different in status, and I also didn't check business or first-class tickets either.
What kind of deals have you seen?
