I don't have a dog in this fight, but why are so many members of the city council/govt. against this entire incorporation?

The BR council members are by far the most inept group of elected officials in the state (I can say that now that DeeDee is gone). Completely and utterly incapable of doing their jobs. Nothing surprises me. I used to sit in council meetings and literally facepalm myself when they would say things.

This Delgado douchebag seems to be trying to make a name for himself off of this. The more this happens, the more I want St. George to happen. I live smack in the middle of BR.

I'm all for their right to creat their own city if they want to and vote for it. I'm just happy as a motherfricker that I don't live there since insurance rates and taxes will skyrocket at first. It'll be one hell of an adjustment period for those residents if they accomplish this.
Would also create racial tensions like we've never seen in EBR and probably across the state. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few riots break out here and there.
I have mixed feelings about the issue.

I really don't know much about who is who and specifics of all these City issues, but I will say that a lot of people are going to decide how they vote on this based solely on despising current Board Members and their mindset. I mean, these are people that are completely comfortable with Complete Failure. The more failed something is, the more in their element they are.

Since this thread has turned into a voice your opinion thread...

I'm an outsider living in Ascension parish, so I won't have a vote.

I'm a very fiscally conservative kinda person, but having tried to evaluate this objectively, I don't think City of St. George is a good idea.

Take those tax dollars away from City of BR, and it's going to go down big time. It's not in the best interest of anyone to live next to a slum... including those new St. George residents.

Careful what you ask for...
