Probably will be going in March for work trip....are there any sites around the grounds worth seeing?
Did you enjoy it, looks like a ton of kids would be there.
Wife and I considering staying couple extra days, but not sure if we should just stay at Atlantis or go someplace else on the island.

Went a few years ago, had a great time. Water park is fun if you like that kind of thing. People always bitch about how expensive it is but I think it's on par with most full service resorts. That tall slide that goes through the shark tank is a must do.

The ocean club down the beach from the Atlantis is the place to stay.

I went last year. I went expecting it to be overpriced and had my doubts. Ended up loving the place. The Dig is an excellent aquarium with huge rays that are around 15-20 feet or so wide. The water park was great and nice beach. The Power Tower has the best slides there that you ride your tube in to the top. After that the Mayan temple is fun. But the best thing there is the lazy river that has rapids.
Better than Mayan Temple taller too.

It's pretty sweet, the casino is nice. The place is huge, lots to do. Food is decent. The Atlantis private beach is ok, but we found out that the public beach right next to it is the place to be.

Isn't that where James Bond stayed?

nope...not a single person...they built that thing and told everyone that it wasn't open for business until you showed up

Its fun. Its different than any other park youll ever go to. But overall theres much better ways to spend a week in the Bahamas than by going to atlantis

We've been several times both with and without kids. Had a blast each time. If you don't have kids, stay at the Cove tower. The adults only pool is awesome. The waterpark is probably the best I've been to. I wouldn't say it's overrun with kids, but you'll definitely see plenty.

Been there quite a few times even before Atlantis was a thought. Great beach. One and Only down the beach is more secluded. You and your wife should enjoy a stay at either.

2 Words: The Cove....

There's nothing but poverty off the property really. I wouldn't call it dangerous per se but I wouldn't be out side of the little downtown area after dark. There's shady folks all about. They don't really mess with the tourists but if you out after dark away from the town or the property it's probably a tad risky.
The property itself is very nice though. I'd do the Bahamas differently but I understand it's work related.
Do not charter a bonefish guide by the cruise ships. That fool has no idea what he's doing.

Went on a work trip a few years ago as well, and had a good time overall.
However, I found prices to be absolutely ridiculous for food and beverages. I remember getting a plain bagel and a bottle of water for breakfast one morning and it cost $11. Kalik beer was $7 for a can. You can go a package store on island and get a 6 pack for that same price. I also found there to be way too many panhandlers on the beach for it to be fun and relaxing. Seemed like every 5 minutes I had to tell them I wasn't interested in what they were selling. There were a lot of cruise ship guests there to overcrowd the place as well.
Casino was very nice and large - closest thing to a Vegas style casino that I've seen in the Caribbean.
