The way I figure it, rotisserie chickens are free.

At Sam's I pay $4.88 per, after we eat the chicken I make 3-4 quarts of chicken stock out of the carcass, A 48 oz box of Swanson's chicken broth is $4.50, $4.50 that I don't have to spend.

Trade off involved, not free

I was going to but a whole chicken to make a jambalaya Sat. It cost $6.13 for the cheapest one. It is absolutly cheaper to buy it cooked.

I see the stock as being free.

They are still $4.88 however you slice them.

Plus the cost of an onion, celery, garlic, electricity and all of the other nominal things you make stock with. Probably brings it up to $5.88

I don't add the veggies, salt or pepper to my stock, I add it to the soup I make out of it, I feel it gives me more control. But I understand the other point of view.

get your hands on the Escoffier cookbook. it's a great resource in understanding all the mother sauces and their roles in food.
I understand maybe if your main goal is to make a quick soup and not get too involved in making a dish though.

Are you suggesting you know all the mother sauces and their roles in food and Father Time Andouille doesn't?

Where are you buying your chickens from, Whole Foods? There is no way a rotisserie chicken is cheaper than a raw chicken.
I bought a whole fryer from Alexander's for $1.99 the other day.

Pretty sure SAMs is selling farm raised Asian jungle fowl and just telling you it's rotisserie chicken.
