Marshall Faulk IMO. McKnight, relative to the hype was a bust.

I remember losing Eric Jefferson to Illinois. He was supposed to be THE MAN coming out of Evangel. I thought Buddy Songy needed to be on suicide watch. I don't think he ever played a down of college football and heard he ended up in legal trouble.

BILLY CANNON JR.
At the time, LSU was struggling, we were losing recruits to out of state schools, and the son of the greatest football player ever to wear the purple and gold signed with Texas A&M.

He never produced much in college but the image of Billy Cannon's son spurning the Tigers was devastating.

Johnny Hector was a big miss at the time. Lots of rumors about why he ended up at A&M.

Same year

1. Manning
2. Booty

I lived in Jackson, Ms and the news was interviewing folks to gauge butthurt that he didn't go to Ole Miss. Accidentally got a tiger fan who basically said don't care we got Booty

It was lulz worthy

I was attending LSU at the time. Yeah, you could have sworn LSU football died that day, the way some people reacted.

Let's face it, he wasn't the caliber player his Dad was.

He also did not want to live in his father's shadow. In retrospect, I don't think anybody blames him for not wanting to try to fill those shoes.

He had a solid career at A&M. He was a first Round draft pick of the Cowboys, where he played one year and had to retire because of a congenital spinal defect that was aggravated by a bad hit.

When McKnight picked USC, it was like someone announced that everyone in attendance at the Bayou Bash would be executed along with their dogs. Grown men throwing shite and cursing at 10 a.m. Declaring the end of LSU football...

And they were idiots. Fournette is so very much more important and better

Booty was named the USA Today Offensive Player of the Year and was named the National High School Player of the Year by at least six associations, including Parade and the Football News.

Manning was named gatorade player of the year, one of 3 Louisiana players to win the award, none signed with LSU.
