True, true.

However, there was a marked shift in the opinions regarding Brown. Before a few days ago, most Bama recruit followers felt they had an outside shot at best. Now they feel they have him in the bag or are at least reeling him in.

Jimmy Smith predicts SN to A&M as of right now. Says he reserves right to switch prediction again.

Pretty wild ride. He also said he doesn't believe Speedy is trying to create suspense.

I don't necessarily agree or disagree, I just want to say that I don't think Jimmy is in on this "suspense building plan" that others have accused him of. Not saying its you or anyone here in particular, just wanted to throw my $0.02 in

Yeah, maybe so.

I find it a bit telling that when specifically asked if SN is trying to creat suspense, Smith said "not this time."

Who knows. It would still qualify as a major surprise if he picks A&M.

I don't think it would to anyone who has followed Speedy, he has A&M pics all over twitter and has talked them up throughout the process.

he's been doing it all year...so I can't help but think he's continuing to do this.

Disagree. It would mark the first time since I don't even know when that A&M landed a kid from La. who LSU truly coveted. For all intents and purposes, and considering only a relevant time frame, the next time will be the first time.

We've seen guys like Fobbs, Hawkins, Phillips, etc. get close--even committing to A&M--only to eventually switch to the home state school.

I think everyone understands Speedy likes A&M. That's a far cry from actually picking the Ags, though.

Hell even if he does announce for A&M on Thursday I'll still be very surprised if he signs. I just have no reason to believe we can sign a kid from La. who LSU truly wants.

Has anyone freaking out about the Tony Brown dates bothered to look at the Bama track schedule?

Bama will also be at the Jan 18 track meet so what exactly does that date have to do with anything?

I'm calling bull shite on this now.....To convenient for all of a sudden 2 days before their announcements, these kids start leaning elsewhere

Who says they all just changed their mind? This 5of5 was just the opinion of people and recruiting services. These kids have never said who the favoured or where they were going publicly. The truth is they and their families are the only ones who know. Getting an accurate indication on where theses kids are leaning gets harder each year. If they want it kept tight they know how to get it done. They are making it harder and harder for the pay sites to provide value. Years ago you actually used to learn something from the pay sites now there is no need for the pay sites.

Follow recruiting long enough and the trolling gets more and more amusing. At least they see how ridiculous the whole process is and like to have fun with it.

I agree. I mainly like recruiting because I like to use it as a barometer of my coach, his hires, talent evaluation, his system, etc. How anyone ever gets worked up over what these "children" say is really funny. But part of them is these fans are delusional people and want to believe some magically impossible narrative about their school and its program.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of the program. I think that's why people get "worked up over it". If LSU doesn't nail this class, I think we are facing a talent gap with some of our opponents that we haven't seen in a long time in Baton Rouge.
