It doesn't bother me a bit that this bowl didn't get LSU's best fan showing. I'd bet it would be a different result if it had been LSU vs Michigan or some other more interesting matchup that LSU fans could get excited about. Over the years the Outback Bowl has passed over LSU several times. Even if LSU had sold it's full allotment of tickets, the fact has always been that those people that run the Outback Bowl have never appreciated LSU.

Egg or chicken?

Do they pass on us because we have a poor fan turnout or do we have a poor fan turnout because they have passed on us?

I thought Outback was east and Cotton was west? Nothing personal against LSU just an unofficial policy?

It's been almost a year since your last post on this board. After this post I think you should wait at least 2 years before posting again.

Because only positive things can result from a poor bowl showing.

LSU fans passed on the Outback Bowl first - in 1988 vs Syracuse. LSU brought almost no one.

almost same exact situation now- semi disappointing season, and very unappealing opponent. That loss was the beginning of the dark ages.

Like you said, though it's not official, that's been the trend. It's generally more convenient for Florida, UGA, and S. Car. fans to get to Tampa than it is for LSU fans. People like the OP need to realize that bowls are exhibition games who's matchup is determined by many more considerations other than just merit. The organizers are trying to make money for the game, their sponsors, and the host city. One of the best ways to do that is by getting as many fans as possible to come and spend money in the city for 3-5 days.

On a side note, LSU fans should be pretty happy that the 5th best team in the SEC this year is playing on a NYD game. There would have been bitching no matter where LSU went.

Cap one - Orlando sucks; we've done that already and it rains; We play Wisconsin to start next season, etc.

Chik-fil-a - Atl. again! Duke?

Cotton: We just went to Dallas. We're not paying to go back again.

Gator: We're LSU, this bowl is beneath us.

Music City: see above.

Just take the game for what it is. The last time to watch LSU play for 9 months; The last time to watch some really great players play for LSU; A chance to see the QB for the next 3 years get his first chance to start.

There are multiple reasons why LSU fans aren't that interested in the bowl game like a perceived lackluster matchup, not a BCS bowl, etc. However, one reason that I haven't seen very many people mention is the fact that LSU has only 1 bowl win in their last four bowl appearances. LSU isn't exactly setting the world on fire in the postseason over the last few years. I hope the Tigers stomp a mudhole in Iowa's arse so that people will be excited about the coming season and watching AJ develop into a great QB.

I said something similar and got blasted in here. Many season ticket holders feel the same way but a lot of the guys on this site wouldn't know because they never attend games. They sit at home and then bitch that fans leave early or don't go to a bowl game.

I've had season tickets forever and haven't missed a bowl game in years. I have bricks & plaques at LSU and have donated to academics, athletics, band, etc. yet have my loyalty is questioned because I skip one bowl game.

This is the ONE and ONLY ONE reason I'm not attending this year. If somebody doesn't like it they can match my $$$ contributions and attendance.

At some point you have to take a stand. If Alleva did the same maybe the SEC HQ would stop screwing us on scheduling and officiating.

I wish we showed up better. The fact that LSU sucked at travelling the past two years really may sway some bowls away from picking us.

I.E.---Go to chicken bowl instead of Cap one or lose out on Cotton to go chicken.
