Michigan only added Lavert after Della Valle chose OSU. I think he has shocked everyone

Which proves my point. Its not like Ohio St had to go outside the city to see LaVert play. He was right there in Columbus. He led his team to a state tile in the big school D1. Meanwhile, Della Valle was from ITALY. Did they even take a second to look at the kid from their own city winning a state championship? Makes you wonder who they are using as scouts. Look at Aaron White from Iowa...how on Earth did Ohio St not recruit that guy out of Cleveland? I think the coaching staff is seriously undervaluing the state of Ohio's basketball talent. Right now Ohio is top 5-10 for recruiting. Ohio is becoming as much of a basketball state as it is football. Della Valle...

And if OSU wants kids like Burke

Ohio State could have had Trey Burke. He turned out to be way better than they imagined he would. If he'd been offered and courted he would've been a Buckeye. Plain, simple and true.

Ohio has been a big time state for basketball recruiting for a long time.

I never said anything to the contrary of that.

He wasnt a high enough profile kid to get an anOSU offer.

Beilien looks for the next level down kid who will flourish in his system.

He's doing a good job of that although he does get some blue chippers here and there.

Aaron Craft wasnt recruited by Ohio St. In fact he was a Tennessee committ until Pearl got into trouble. Sullinger had to convince Thad that he was good enough. So its not like we dont go that route either, we have just missed on the last few. Plain and simple is right. Sullinger tried to convince Thad to get Trey too, but they were convinced that the son of Charlie Scott just had to be better. Ohio St with Trey Burke could have been one of the greates teams in the last 30 years of NCAA basketball. Its not unrealistic to think they could have won back to back championships.

Speaking of missing out, Columbus has another couple of kids that are being recruited by B1G foes and we arent even looking at them either. Javon Bess is committed to Michigan St and Jordan Dartis is being recruited by Wisconsin. These two actually square off against each other Friday night in a game that Ohio St should be at but wont be.

Oh and Tim Hardaway Jr, Glenn Robinson III and Mitch McGary were recruited by just about everybody so i get where you are saying that Beilien looks for diamonds, but its not like he isnt getting major talent either. Stauskas was a great find though!

3 star whose only other B1G offer was Minnesotta.

3 star when he committed. No other B1G offers. Had a huge rise to 5 star his Sr year.

I have trouble believing that, but ill take you at your word.

Anyway, back on track, HUGE game for Ohio St tonight against Illinois. Basically a must win game to get back on track. I think Illinois could be in for a long night. Sooner or later, this Buckeye team is going to snap out of it.

Could be a terrible night for both. Nobody expected Illinois to be good this year. Groce had them overachieving until B1G play.

Jon Ekey sucks. Egwu either is awful or fouls out when playing great otherwise. Rice is great. Bertrand is consistently average. Not much help of the bench.

Nunn, Hill, and Tate could be great. Just not stepping up enough on a team lacking upperclass leadership.

Branden Dawson is out 4-5 weeks after breaking a bone in his shooting hand. He broke it slamming his fist on the table while watching film.

I heard Izzo on college sports nation a day or two ago and he was really relaxed and more positive than you usually hear him. He kept stressing that they needed to get healthy, now this happens. State is loaded, though, they will run away with the conference. If that goes into March, it could be a problem.
