Anyone ever heard of a "cut shell"?

Just happened to stumble upon this video. Seems a little dangerous but very effective.

I've heard of people having to scramble to make one when alligators get after their labs in early teal season.

Poor mans slugs. Looks like it would work in a break action, but it might cause problems in a pump or autoloader.

Made them often when younger. We used to make them in the blind and keep them handy for when geese would fly over at reasonable heights. As you can imagine, accuracy is lost at distance.

Yeah those are cool. I shot a 1/2" 3 shot group at 550yrds out of my .410 with those cut shells one time

I can't watch videos at work. They think it might cut down on my productivity. So, I have to spend more time asking you guys to describe the video.

Can somebody give me a short breakdown of what this is about?

the one alligator attack i saw... you wouldn't have had time for this...

and at the end of the day - attacks on duck dogs while they hunting are astronomically rare.
