And hire just about anybody else because we all know that any decent high school coach can win NCs at LSU with all that Louisiana talent.

Actually it does. His contract says he'll be the highest paid coach in the conference if he wins another one.

LSU will probably rework his contract or something. Contracts aren't set in stone. I wonder who will ask this question tomorrow.

So very rustled.

LSU is struggling to pay Miles's salary as it stands now.

LSU suffered the worst budget cuts of any school in the country thanks to Bobby Jindal. Athletics had to step in and take over many academic financial obligations and agree to pay $7Million/year to academics.

LSU Board of supervisors is meeting as we speak about football ticket increase and parking fees.

LSU doesn't have nearly the resources as Bama

I looked it up. Alabama's endowment is 630 million. Not sure how much money is in LSU's endowment??

pretty much this

also, the subject was previously covered on this board after someone heard it broached on Finnebaum. One of the nuggets from that thread was Miles' pay may only be raised to the 1 dollar more compared to other coaches in the SEC. I don't know if that is true and FWIW I think both LSU and Alabama would be financially at risk if they start throwing money around as if they were Texas and money were no object.

Somewhere between $300 million and $330 million (the most recent numbers I saw, anyway) - probably closer to the $330 million, currently.

That gap quoted is probably accurate.

But, keep in mind, this discussion is about football money - Bama still has more, but the gap is a lot closer in football money - programs are roughly equivalent. There is revenue sharing, we have a big, sold out stadium, television money, etc., relative parity.

LSU hasn't won a title without Saban's players since the 1950's, zero chance of Miles winning another there.

I gave you an upvote. Just felt right.

that does not sound right. Thought I read somewhere where LSU's total endowment was in the 600 to 700 million dollar range.

LSU's endowment 2 years ago was 692 million so LSU and Alabama are in the comparable ranges in regards to endowments...

Because you said something, I've either been looking at old numbers or one of the sub-numbers - LSU foundation says ~$570 million.

That's the entire system's number - but Bama's is almost $1 billion.

You do realize that it was illegal due to state law for LSU to have an endowment until very recently.

If anything, LSU's endowment is very very impressive considering it's only had a couple of decades to compound interest.

Bama's is part of a system as well. Their system is UAB and UAH(Huntsville) that comprise that system
