It's pretty well documented that many bowlgames are just a cash grab for the people running them. I think it was the Insight Bowl where it came out its CEO was making $500,000+ a year and was working 10 hours a week.

Just wait until the playoff committee gets started next year!!

It's like that in FIFA, the Olympics and the Bowl games. It's a giant kickback suckfest.

. I watch a ton of bowl games, especially if there's not a good NBA game on.
I'd rather watch the crappiest bowl game on record than watch the two best NBA teams play.

You are aware of who is playing in the New Orleans Bowl, right?
A team who lost 3 of their last 4 vs a team that lost their last 2 against teams with non-winning records?

What he meant was there aren't going to be "kids from California who come to New Orleans for the first time" so they'll probably be focused on the game. And that was a pretty bad example from you. Atleast this year.

Wasn't talking about this year. 2 years ago, multiple San Diego St players (mostly seniors) were "out and about" past curfew, on multiple nights. Props to the S.D. St. coaching staff for their relaxed rules. The players earned it.
Please spare me the "we are there to win a bowl game" speech.

Bowl games are a reward for success...maybe not quote: Never go full retard Yeah because watching meaningless football games where the players are only half trying is enjoyable? pls go No one is ever going to care who won the Capital One Bowl or the Kraft Hunger Bowl etc etc
And nobody really cares when Tulane plays Rice in the regular season. Except their fans, and those same fans will care about a bowl game too.
Personally I just like watching football. It's almost over and bowl season gives me time to catch more games. And I really don't buy your "half trying" bull.

I wonder how much school lose on average going to a bowl
Posted on 12/10/13 at 8:49 am to Kickadawgitfeelsgood
So one team with a lack of leadership means that all participants in a bowl don't care.
I know you're trolling, but at least try to construct a decent argument.

The additional practices are a huge reward as well. For some teams, probably more so than the bowl game. But for a team like Tulane that has not had a winning season since 2002, ANY bowl is awesome.

If you believe San Diego State is the only team to take the "I'm on vacation" approach to bowl games, then you are not really being honest with yourself. Actually, you are clueless.

By posting an article of how the commissioner is paying to "create interest" in his conference?

Why would you think a regular season game that Tulane or ULL plays is any more "meaningful" to them than the bowl game they will be playing against each other?
It's not as if, in the regular season, either of them is really playing to get into the BCS to begin with.

That's not what I was responding to and you know that.
When someone constantly changes the topic and/or resorts to fallacious arguments, then you know that their position is untenable.

Preparation leading into the game. Players are in shut down mode. Coaches have shifted to recruiting. Everyone is sharing duties and time allotment.
Hell! A lot of the coaches spend their added practice developing next years squad.

Yes
For lower tier bowls the financial loss of the bowl game is arguably an investment in improving the football program.
Now should a lot of the midmajors etc get out of the big time college football business because they will not consistently compete and will consistently lose money? Yes, that is a related topic for discussion.

my thing is, some of the non-AQ conferences deserve better tie-ins than what they get... the Mountain West champion is usually a decent enough team, but Fresno State is going to the Las Vegas Bowl. A bowl like the Liberty deserves a better opponent for the CUSA champion.
now the deserving teams from those conferences will go to the BCS or now the access bowls, but the champions of each conference deserve a good bowl that the country will watch... the year the Liberty had Boise State and Louisville was how it should be.

Are me and this guy the only ones who enjoy bowl season. I rarely care who is playing. The games are always highly competitive and a bowl win means a ton in terms of recruiting for most teams. Bowl season is a great way to cap off football season. Since football cannot follow a 64 team tournament like NCAA basketball, this is a great alternative.

I agree. More football is not an issue for me.
