Going for the 57 yarder at the end was a good call. They just had a bizarre situation happen to them.

Once he saw the return man go back he should have never tried the FG with a guy who had virtually no experience.

I think that was Kentucky in 2007 with Colt David to win it with no time left in regulation. It actually had the distance, it missed to the left by about 1-2 yards.

Man I remember this. That whole game was agonizing.

Saban can recruit the jimmy and joes much better than he is at the x's and o's. I've always said that. People tend to over estimate his coaching ability due to the talent he has to work with. No one, no one, no one is, was, or ever will be, better at talking high school kids into going to his school than Saban.

Absolutely. Look at his last 6 recruiting classes and think about what Peterson at Boise St could do with that talent. Saban's budget is also much larger than most (if not all) other coaches.

The media narrative is that Saban is a genius and Miles is an idiot. So whatever Saban does they will find ways to make it fit the genius narrative, it was so crazy it was brilliant. Whereas even if Les Make a good call and it works, like the TD pass versus Arky, it is just crazy arse Les and a lucky call. The media will rarely ever move from the narrative even it is complete bullshite. Just the way it is.....

I still think saban did not make a bad decision by going for it. His kicker was choking. Its 4 and freaking one. You have one of the best offensive lines in the country. A great running back. 7/10 they convert that. Your players gotta convert. Auburn wanted that game more than bama.

Maybe its just me but I've never liked being too conservative. Part of being a great coach is being aggressive and being able to make those risky calls that could very well blow up in your face. You play to win, you dont play not to lose.

Saban has Obama-like powers. He can't be brought down no matter how bad he gets.

Sorry to bust up your thread, but Nick Saban would never have been stupid enough to fake a field goal on 4th and 16.

Saban probably caused Bama a NC. That said he has won 3 for them. It was one of the worst calls a coach could make. He did not even consider the return.

Les is not the only coach that screws up sometimes.

well...he did try to fake a punt on 4th and 20 from his own 23 yard line in the NC game against UT

...and the result plays out like it did yesterday. LSU loses. And he passes on a high percentage short FG attempt to go up two scores with 7 min left, calls a bad play and gets stopped short on 4th and 1.

you are forgetting, a 15 yard penalty that gave au the ball at the 35 instead of the 14 after the 4th down play. Then, he puts a man on a island with 30 seconds left and 40 yards to go. Only a t.d. can tie the game. if you give safety help, tackle the guy, you probably win.

I think gus is a quack, he go's for it on his own 30 down by 7 with 5 min to go to allow the other team to win the game. however, he was out dumbed by saban. amazing.

people say les is lucky, just look at how au has won their last two games. talk about having a horse shoe up your arse.

That only shows how fricking strong the SEC has become and how fricking bias the SEC was this season when they took Georgia off the Alabama schedule and added them to ours.

Anyone still putting out that Miles has been lucky BS is either a retard or a troll.

when the media finally dries their tears from Saturday night, little Nicky will start to get blasted-- as he should. What a dumb decision.

Don't believe we would have lost to chicken crap teams UK and Arkansas with him as coach in 2007 season either.

But, but, but..... Nickie said his boy kicks 60 yarders in practice all the time AND he had the wind at his back. The only thing lil' Nickie forgot was that his boy had ZERO experience in big games and had only attempted maybe 3 fg all year. He gave up on his kicker. Bama up 10 with less than 6 min to go and it is virtually over, but he chose to leave his kicker on the bench instead of trying a 34 yarder. I am telling yall, he will be divorced by the start of next season 'cause he gonna beat his woman and his dog.....
