Uh, maybe you missed almost every thread pertaining to defense about Chavis's lack of adjusting to the game.

It's quite obvious this is a bash Miles thread

Why would you believe next year will be any better than this year? Honest question. I don't see any logical reason to believe LSU will standout on a national level. . We will lose a lot on offense and clearly the defense can't play with the top tier teams for 60 minutes.

If trying to provide a sober perspective on the current state (and trend) of the LSU program is a "bash Miles" thread, then I guess it is.

BTW, Miles is the HC, so he's ultimately responsible for whatever his coordinators do/don't do (either by sticking with them despite their deficiencies [Dinardo - Tepper ring a bell?] Or because he "overrules" his coordinators).

Young defense will only get better

I really believe our secondary will be fantastic next year, linebackers will be better. If freak and ego stay and play like they are capable of our defense will be great.

If Jennings is as good as we think he can be and we can field a solid offense we'll be in good shape.

Plus we don't have a super difficult schedule

We laid an egg. It was awful and it was embarrassing. But only one other team was still playing football at that time. If you can't be proud of that then I'm not sure sports are quite your thing.

but, we didn't we didn't get the first down because of bonehead playcalling, then give up winning TD drive because of crap defense. Then we proceed to essentially do the same thing in losing in our 2nd tier bowl game.

We came off the rails late in the season after we lost to Bama. No one is arguing that and that is a problem. A player problem or a coaching problem? I don't know and neither do you but we do know that at least one player on that defense gave up.

However our "bonehead playcalling" was addressed in the off season and the hire that Les made brought us one of the best offenses I've ever seen this school field. You think anyone else could've made that hire?

since 2007 season, 2011 has been the anomaly, not the norm

We are 63-17 since 2007
We have won 2 SEC championships
We have won 1 national championships and played for a second one
Produced 11 all-americans
Had 44 players taken into the NFL draft
11 of those in the first round.

What about that is "mediocre"?

you like so many fail to look at performance because you most likely know nothing about football so all you can point to is results.

how is his gameday performances? management? discipline? development at times? losing 8 games he should have won? All that is acceptable for you?

Why hasn't that happened in Alabama since Saban was hired?

So we can remove his national championship in order to fit into the black poison cloud floating around this board today? No thanks

You do realize Saban is not for hire. Perhaps we should make a coaching change. Who would you want? Be careful. May end up like Florida with Muschamp. Problem is there is only 1 coach for you - and he is not for hire.

Miles is completely to blame for getting 8 underclassman ready and drafted by the NFL in the first 5 rounds of the 2013 draft.

You do if you want to consider Miles' performance as LSU coach with HIS players, HIS recruits in HIS system.

Right. Because when you look at it that way, it doesn't look so great now does it?

I hate to agree with such a pessimistic view but it's hard not to nod in agreement as I read your post. LM is a good person/individual but he doesn't appear to have what it takes to be elite in today's SEC. And it's not just " a down year" issue. Our teams have fundamental problems no matter the talent level. Player development seems lacking. I just don't see how this situation will get any better.
. Completely agree. I'd like to go back to days when no one (outside LSU)liked our coach. There's a reason Bama fans all seem to love miles. He's a lovable loser. He's no threat whatsoever. I think we may all agree we'd rather have a hatable winner.

Because he's a better coach than Les Miles. He is also a better coach than every other coach at every other school. It just so happens that he coaches for a team in our division. It also just so happens that Les Miles is THE ONLY coach to consistently be a threat to his domination.

This fanbase really really needs to let go of this infatuation with Nick Saban. He is never coming back and there is no one else out there better than him. We do however have the one man who has consistently recruited the horses necessary to be a threat.

I'm just gonna quote the frick out of this right here because FINALLY...somebody stepped in here with some sense.

This is the SEC pal. There are 5-6 teams every year of winning the SEC if they get the right breaks. Maybe you should switch your loyalty to Texas or Louisville where the conference championship requires winning one or two challenging games every year? How many championships have your Saints won in there existence?
