2005. 8 years isn't that long ago as you get older.
I'm plenty old enough but in terms of coaching life spans, anything beyond three years is an eternity.

Saban will up that salary by at least 50% if he goes to Austin.
I think he'll bust the curve no matter is he stays or go. Assuming he wins another NC.

If UT is paying Mack that much money to field a crappy team, Austinites will go up 2 million for Nick.
Posted on 11/7/13 at 11:54 am to Methuselah
the UT posturing is more or less to squeeze every last dime he can from Bama. Which he will ultimately get obviously. Sexton knows how to play the game. Has to make it look believable that Nick would leave.

Lane Kiffin should read $0 now.

anybody know who the least paid FBS coach is?

Dude needs to drop a few more spots on that list IMO.

FSU is getting their moneys worth

What do you think that "leak" by his agent is all about? He is sending Alabama a shot across the bow regarding Saban's raise.

Not one coach on that list in the top 10 took over better circumstances than Miles by far and it's not even close.
Miles took over an NC caliber team that was loaded with talent and ready to compete for an NC from day 1.
Mack took over a horrid UT program
Saban a middling Bama program
Bielema a horrible Arky program
Jones took over a bad Tennessee program
Stoops took over a bad OU program
Urban Meyer took over maybe the best situation in a declining tOSU program
Hoke, Ferentz and Strong took over middling programs.
So the only guy in the top 10 out of Les Miles that took over a program that wasn't declining or a disaster was Meyer who took over a UF team that was going down the tubes slowly under Zook.

LSU has only finished a season ranked in the top 5 one time in the last five years, and that was in 2011.
AP Poll Final Rank
2008- not ranked
2009- 17
2010- 8
2011- 2
2012- 14
USA Today Coaches Poll Final Rank
2008- not ranked
2009- 17
2010- 8
2011- 2
2012- 12
ok, if that is the criteria, must finish in the top five over the last five years. then list the five teams that did it over the last five years? it wasn't the same teams every year. Consistantcy is what makes lsu a top five program. Over the last 13 only boise has won more games. In the last five years only 3 other teams has won as many games. boise, bama, and ohio state.
amazing what fans will do to try and tear down their own program.

Not a realistic # when you compare it with the other salaries. Arkansas had to pay $1.2 or $2 mil to Bielema so he could pay Wisconsin the buyout.
It counted as annual income for Bielema and he'll have to pay taxes on it, but a big portion of that $5.1 mil. ended up at Wisconsin.

Then, why did that team win but 9 games in 04, finish 4th in the SEC, out of the SEC race in 1st week of Oct., and wind up at #16 nationally? Poor coaching job?
Miles record since 05 is bout Top 3-5 nationally based off results and his winning percentage of bout 85% since 2010 place him in the Top 4 nationally among BCS schools.
We are getting good bang for our bucks.
Some of the other schools in that Top 7....not so much.

The fat headed coach from Arkansas is laughing all the way to the bank. To think that guy is the 3rd highest paid coach just makes me say WOW!! Miles almost looks like a bargain!
