ETA: The offense had been great this year. I don't know how many downs of major college football or NFL you've coached, but I have faith in Cam. Stop being a Debbie Downer.

Cams offenses in the NFL featured running backs via screens and the passing game as much as anybody.

I think throwing to the RBs is more an OC/ QB thing than a Les thing. Jamarcus threw a lot to Hester in 06, and it was more check downs than Hester as the primary option on the play. you still see the RB out in the flat or coming free over the middle this yr, Mett doesn't throw to em a whole bunch.
to be fair, there have been games where we featured the RBs some, and when you got guys like Beckham and Landry, you can understand Mett going to them often.
I'm a little more surprised the TEs haven't been more involved. they targeted Desean a couple times vs. TCU, made me think he would be a bigger contributor (or a combo of him and Dickson once Dickson was healthy).

If we had offensive coaches that knew how to adjust and take advantage of what the defense gives you, the Ole Miss game would have been completely different, and by no means, should any defense be able to do that so many plays a game again.
Will it happen during certain plays against other teams? Yes. And hopefully or $5.5 million inestment in offensive coaches have taught Mett how to recognize it.
But to do that coverage so many times should be suicide for a defense.
Now, whether our coaches are capable of strategizing and teaching Mett (and then Mett actulaly doing it instead of throwing into triple coverage) about using the space left open to the other pass receivers is a completely different part of the equation.
All in all, it reminds me of the game San Francisco let their Guard block Lawrence Taylor since their tackle wasn't quick enough to get him around the end. After the game, Parcells saw the film and immediately knew a few inside LB blitzles to where the guard was would have destroyed this strategy as they would have been easy sacks.
When you double cover two WR, it leaves every else in single coverage. In this case, it was against Ole Miss, whose depleted secondary was on their back-ups back-up in some of those situations.

on 2 of the Ole Miss ints, I think Mett made the right decision to go to Beckham, he just made bad throws. given how he'd played over the first 7 games of the yr, both from decision-making and accuracy standpoints, I can't fault the coaches for having faith in him to make those plays.

On two of those INTs, he had another guy wide open running accross the middle, one for an easy TD.
I do fault Mett for throwing ino double and one time, triple coverage, forcing the ball to his guy, when someone else is wide open.
Mett clearly does not see the field or his progression, nearly as well as he did the first few games. Is it his knee? The sacks? Adjustments going on? I have no idea.

Saban is not an idiot, so he's not going to double cover both receivers on every play. Most likely, he'll play zone coverage with two safeties back. He'll mix those zones so that different routes are open; it'll be up to the WRs to read what's open and adjust accordingly. Also, we'll have to run the ball against honest fronts. That'll keep them from overloading on pass blitzes.

Iknow lsu has more receivers than LANDRY and BECKHAM. How many times in the last two games have they thrown to anyone but those two. All i'am saying is this bama is going to double those two receivers. If we don't more receivers and running backs involved they will run us right out of T town!!

We've tried a few screens this year and I'm not sure what the problem is but they've gotten fricked up every single time. We've tried them with Blue and Magee, not certain about Hill.

I think gurley and Marshall rushed for about 160 on LSU.
Gurley got knocked out after about a 100 yard first quarter.

it was bizarre. It actually started with the Florida game. Miles and Cam outthought themselves against Florida, squeaked by, and considered it a great game plan (the next week Missouri opened it up on them and destroyed them). Winning that game re-enforced the 70's style big 10 mind set in Miles and he doubled up on it against Ole Miss, resulting in a loss. Hopefully lesson learned, but sometimes I have my doubts.

Gurley got hurt early in the game and we had to deal with Marshall. (I stand corrected there where I stated Marshall was out of the game. My mistake)
They still had Michael Bennett, Chris Conley, that really good freshman RB, I forget his name.
And those two players with hyphenated names. Carter-Samuels and there's another one, I can't recall his name.
The point being is they had a majority of their weapons. They were only missing Gurley.
