Surely someone in here has caught a teal or a wood duck with their bare hands...or gotten smoked by one in the head or something.

Neck's fish was caught with the circle hook laid perfectly over the leader, cinched on the tail. Not foul hooked or wrapped twice, no idea how it happened. Greenhorn on the gaff yanked my line out of it's mouth and the fish swims down. Two seconds later the other line is tight.

Surely, and it was a grey duck if memory serves me correct. I had forgotten about that, thanks for giving me a laugh this morning.

Flying fish kamikaze'd me in the shoulder one night in the canyon. He was tuna food soon after.

He swiped at it sideways. Only other person besides the captain who knew what the hell they were doing was frantically cutting bait cause the bite hit as soon as we rolled up.

Tell your bare-handed, squirrel stomping story...
oh yeah!
7th grade. decided to go squirrel hunting with a slingshot in the woods behind the house. i had been hunting for about 30 mins with no success, and i was about to give up when i finally came across a squirrel. i see him climbing up one of those big creeper vines. he spots me and he jumps off the vine onto a dead tree. no limbs, just a bare-arse trunk maybe 10" across and 30' tall, all holey from the woodpeckers and half-rotten. i proceed to miss the squirrel 15 times (all of the rocks i had) with the slingshot while i circle around the tree. he sticks tight on the tree though for a few seconds, because it's kind of a long jump to the nearest branch, and i get the bright idea to try and shake down the whole tree. i start shaking the tree back and forth, back and forth, and i can see the squirrel on the very top of the tree. his tail is waving back and forth every time i swing the tree. finally, after what seems like an eternity, he tries to jump to a nearby branch, but he mis-times his jump. he completely misses the next tree and hits the ground 5 ft from me. before he can take a step i'm on him, stomping his head with my tennis shoe. i brought it inside all excited and mom nearly loses her lunch. when dad got home we cleaned it though & put it in the freezer.

I killed a skunk with a dried cowpile
Once while hunting exotics we were trying to push a herd of goats toward another hunter who hadn't killed yet by tossing rocks into the brush. One goat freaked out and came running right toward me. I held my fire til I could see the whites of his eyes then let loose with a fist sized rock at the head. I broke his front leg right below the knee and rolled him a couple of flips. Since we were only allowed one goat per hunter the unlucky hunter bagged his goat while I held it up on its feet by the horns.

We caught a blue wing teal hen bare handed on an oil platform last year. One of the guys took it home on the chopper. Green Canyon 6**

I caught a coyote by hanging rotting fish from a treble hook that was tied to a cedar tree. I then poured diesel on it and set him on fire.
Caught a coon with a chicken leg that was soaked in fanta strawberry.

Before running jugs we go out and run the boat in a circle and use our hand net to catch Asian carp when they begin to jump out of the water......have cut bait for days

Oh yeah, and I got my arse kicked by a gadwall one time. Took 6 or 8 shots to the face. These things happen.

This was a near miss but along those lines. In late '89 when Norf LA had the big freeze, we found an absolute ton of ducks behind Pin Oaks on 15 in Monroe sitting in a nasty pond right off the old reservoir. Everything was locked up solid except for this pond because it had a pipe with some God awful smelling water running into it. It was unreal the ducks in it, standing on ice chunks, and even standing on the bank. Maybe 2,000 easy. We beat them up pretty good one afternoon but ran out of shells. Buddy ended up just holding his gun up and a drake GW Teal hit his barrel. However, it was only phased a little and did fly off.

Was hunting on a pipeline in boligee, al. It was the afternoon, and I had seen plenty deer, but no shooter bucks. Once it had gotten pretty dark I spotted black moving across the pipeline at 150 yds, so I pulled my gun up and saw a pig. All I could see was its arse so I shot it in the arse. After the flare from the muzzle, it was still there but I could see its head so I shot at that. After that muzzle flare it was still there so I shot at its shoulder. After that shot I said frick it and put my gun down pissed. So about twenty min later here comes my uncle, he's not very small, on a one seater four wheeler. and he's all like wtf you shootin at. So we pull over to where the pig was, and there's a pig shot in the head, one shot in the shoulder, and a blood trail leading into a slough. frick pigs
