That guy takes Esquire to task. Love it.

that's great

I think a beer hobby is great.
I don't buy crappy beer and prefer not to drink it.
Forums for hobbies are a great thing.
I've poured out beer I thought tasted terrible.

BUT, the guy that wrote that sounds like a bigger a-hole than the guy that wrote the esquire piece.
It was funny even if I don't agree with it. This guy just sounds bitter.

And I guess talking about wacking off is somehow clever?

People who are into beer want a certain glass not for some aesthetic, its usually serving a purpose like aromatics or to enjoy the beer more. Painting it as Princess Belle who wants her microbrew tea set is a great set up, it's also vapid, shallow, uninformative, and I guess worst of all, disinteresting.

this was my favorite gem.

Then again, just last week, I noticed a gentleman flap back his iPad’s smart cover, prop it up on the bar next to his platter of loaded nachos, and start rotely logging each and every beer he drank into Untappd.

What a loser.

Both sides of this are ridiculous. If you like certain beer, then drink it. If you have friends who also like craft beer, then feel free to discuss it all day with them. But don't get crazy or judgmental just because someone else doesn't like craft beer.

On the other side, if you don't like craft beer then you don't have to hate people who do.

As far as being judgmental, I've had to stop myself from judging people who only drink bmc. At this point, I realize it's what they like. Who am I to tell them anything about it?

I find it humorous that people are commenting like they are actually mad about this

That's how I feel. I don't judge anyone if that's what they want to drink. That being said, I do try to get them to explore other options. If we're at a bar, I'll order a Canebrake or something easy drinking and ask if they want to try it, they usually try it and like it and it starts from there. Any of the local stuff, even Abita, is better to support if you can get people to do so without being a dick. There's just SO much more out there than BMC that I want to open up people's eyes, if they're willing. If not, then no harm, no foul. If they don't make fun of me for paying $5 or $6 for a pint of beer, I won't make fun of them for drinking flavorless beer

made the account to troll all the SEC teams on the SECr after our year last year, but then forgot completely about it when it took a day or 2 to activate. Now I can't do that as much but at least I can talk food/drinks

How else are you going to remember if you're always trying new beer? It definitely comes in handy.

It really does come in handy if you rate them. If you haven't had a beer in a while and forgot if you liked it, you can prevent yourself from wasting money on a beer you dont like

I'm a little bit of a beer snob, but I agree with the article, some people are jackasses about it. Yeah I enjoy some good craft beers, but I still pick up a 6-pack of PBR every a few times a month.

Please link me an article in a major national publication that mocks and ridicules people who don't like craft beer.

Why does it have to be a national publication, you see it here everyday.

Everyday on this board people talk shite about, demonize, mock, ridicule and generally abhor people who don't like craft beer?

News to me.
