People who are capable of partying after agonizing loss...

... I'm not one of them, but Im always curious how these people are able to go party after an agonizing Saints or LSU (or Pellies playoff) loss.
After that 49ers playoff game I think I was in the fetal position for the better part of two hours. Last night I had to endure a brutal train ride back to Boston hearing "who dat?" catcalls from Patriot fans. But there were Saints fans heading out, drinking, having a good time as I slinked back to my room after a quiet dinner.
Whats the mindset?

That takes a lot of restraint not get in a fight after a loss like yesterday.
I cant say i would have held together.

The mindset is that it's a game and whether or not I choose to enjoy the rest of my day or sulk has no effect on the outcome.

I lost 3 gerbils and 2 clickers yesterday

Those people view saints football as entertainment. You, as well as myself view saints football as an investment in time, resources, and emotion.
It's an addiction/sickness that I have no desire to heal from.

Because its just a game. And you can't control the outcome

It's just a game bro. Losing sucks but it happens from time to time

Fetal position?? Good God man it's a damn game! A childs game at that in which men like Greer make millions of dollars to live comfortably and can't stop a damn football right in front of his face, and he's supposed to be a proffessional. I played this game from a child up to college and know that these guys play their guts out on the field when playing, but afterwards everybody goes on about their business having left everything out there. You should do the same.

I went to a movie right after. 49ers was super depressing though.
The game is entertainment. I had a great time in Athens after the loss.
It is a lot different when you feel your team was cheated

I luckily had a ride back to Boston so I didn't have to endure any heckling on public transportation.
Once I got into the city I grabbed a slice of pizza and headed into a bar. The bar was filled with Pats fans so I immediatedly turned around and went home.

THIS. After we won the Super Bowl, I have let losses bother me less and less (although I still couldn't go partying after a loss like that - see me in SF after the 2010 playoff loss, on the Cal Train ride back from the stadium I swore I would immediately leave the area and never return).
All I ever asked for before winning the Super Bowl was to at least see the Saints just win it once. Please just once
Now after the win, I am trying less and less to let things I can't control bother me. Life is too short.

what made that brutal was les quitting on his team. WHat coach in their right mind would not be running 2 minute no huddle down 21-0?

There's no better medicine for dealing with a loss than spending time with friends, having a few drinks, and sharing a few laughs.
That's way better than sulking in my bedroom.

This.
When I was younger, I would sulk and be pissed. Now I'm kind of laid back. It's just a game and there are a lot more important things.
