Where's David Garrard and Byron Leftwich when you need them?

i don't get how chad henne hasn't won the starting job. every year when gabbert gets hurt, henne comes in and is mediocre at least. henne has a good-great game and a shitty game or 2.gabbert is just terrible on the reg

NFL scouts suck. They love to see talent in a player who nobody knows like Blaine Gabbert, but then they all will tell you that Russell Wilson is a scrub.
Considering RW was drafted in the 3rd round, I wouldn't say any scouts thought he was a scrub
Gabbert may be the worst NFL QB I've ever seen

At his agent's behest, he did not attend combine and only threw at his pro-day. Scouts looked at nothing but his height/arm strength/etc.
This. His entire career has been smoke and mirrors. He put up moderate numbers in high school his junior year and didn't play his senior year but somehow managed to be a 5* recruit and came to Mizzou. Look at his numbers at Mizzou. Middle of the pack to bottom half of the Big 12 alone. Everything was hype about his height and arm strength. Just because a guy is 6'4" and throws 98 doesn't mean he should be in a MLB rotation. He needs to be a pitcher too, or in this case a QB.

He was average at best in the Big 12. Todd Reesing and Ell Roberson were better

All anyone talks about is how bad Gabbert is. I have NEVER heard of 1 fan in support of the guy. I just don't get what management sees in the kid.
The sunk cost fallacy at work with regards to management and ownership.
"The front office spent a top 10 pick on this kid! He's got to pan out at some point!"

If you can watch this clip without actually laughing out loud, then you receive a "terrible" in the "at life" category.

It's a race between he and Jimmy Clausen for sure

Andrew Walter and Ryan Leaf were pretty atrocious

Brady Quinn resents being excluded from this list.

this right here, brilliant move.
that was also the same year that the lockout happened. With no free agency before the draft, it put some teams into some real interesting situations.
especially teams that needed a QB.

It's not the scout, its the owner and GM. Scouts hands them the information and they make the decision.

Quinn has never really been a starter though

Weaver gave Gene Smith a 3-yr extension as his final act as owner and Khan was too stupid or cheap to buy him out. Smith deserves the majority of the blame though; he was like the east coast Al Davis.

I doubt Mustashe McMoneyBags was too cheap to do it. Probably just doesnt know football very well
