I guess maybe it's a thing of the past but I remember my mom telling me back in the day if you went on a date at a fancy restaurant they would give the woman a menu that didn't have prices on it.
Anyone heard of this? I haven't seen it. Then again, I'm a guy![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I've seen a few "farm to table" type restaurants that do this since their menu changes so frequently
It will just say "Market Price"

I went to a place in Virginia, where it was mostly seafood, and every item said "market"

I feel like I remember nice restaurants doing this when I was a kid.

I have seen it. Gotta be a super high end type of good ole boys restaurant tho. It was a gender specific menu without prices, none of them had it.

I don't think Joel Robuchon had prices on the menu when I went there.

I've been to restaurants where a few items are not priced on the menu. Won't even say market price.

I have my own personal crew of chefs that cook for me at my estate. Their menus never have prices on it. Lol prices

Only once. It was in New Orleans back in the 70s but I can't remember the name of the place. I asked for prices when I ordered. They were high.
Reminds me of some hoity toity places I've read about but never went to. They don't offer a menu. You eat what the chef feels like cooking that day.

University Club in Jackson. Only host/member's menu has prices. Your guests will never see a price, only selections. No payment at end of meal either. You get a monthly bill.
I like it.

Camelot Club used to do this in the city, but its been years since I've been to a dinner there where it was given to everyone, including the host.

In the '70s and '80s The Sazerac restaurant in the Fairmont Hotel was the swankiest place in town. Read about it here
The menus handed to the females in the party did not show prices. This kept the gold-diggers from "ordering off the right side."
