Know there were a bunch of standing room people (needless to say), but can this happen again where more people are in the stadium than it can hold? If so what limits this? Just curious if fire rules and no more general admin seating means you cannot have more than a stadium holds

I know ppl that went to the game and they claim that ppl were sitting in the isles. Apparently the fire marshall really cracked down after that.

there were about 3 per seat in the student section...perhaps had the capacity been enforced the chick behind me who threw-up most of the first half wouldn't have gotten in.

The student section was basically all they could pack in back in those days.

Sitting right there in the student section and people were sitting 2 and 3 abreast in the aisles. I believe after that game the fire marshals got a little stricter and had to keep on the aisles free and clear.

I was there as a HS senior but not in the student section. I knew several students who were in the SS and it was exactly as many here have described.

The very next season was my freshman year and we had to 'order' free tickets AND show our LSU ID to limit the number of people.

To answer your question, I believe the only people currently counted that are not in a seat are the stadium concession and security workers, LSU athletic dept. working staff, and the media. That is why the largest crowds are always a few hundred to a thousand or so above official capacity.

Like many here, I was there too! My freshmen year at LSU and probably still one of the greatest games in terms of an LSU performance. The crowd was electric and the loudest continuously I've ever heard. I remember the wave was started and no one could stop it. Great game!! Of course I was drunker than cooter brown!! lmao

I'm curious why you ask about a game 20 years ago?

Listed capacity now is 92,542 but for every big game, there are more than that "in the stadium".

That was my SR year. Never did understand what made that game so 'well attended'. What was odd was that The Reveille claimed the student section wasn't full which was hard to believe as it was as crammed as it could be.

It was unusally mild that night, at least for BR in late Sept, so maybe that factored into it.

in 70's and early 80's student section was huge
for big games. that like so many things: the oranges thrown at florida state...rushing the
field after ole miss game in '70 (before fences)
the overall rowdiness..poking mike in front of the student section half a dozen times..will
never happen again

the amount of booze in the stadium was a lot more years ago at night games.visiting teams dodged whiskey half pints.

modern security and the change in the makeup
of the type of fans in stands have changed
the experience some for the good and some
like tv time outs constantly are just part of the
times we live in.

We were sitting in the upper part of the SS. If you didn't go to the bathroom before you got up there you were screwed. You could look down and see NO aisle to walk down. Had a few people that tried to go down through the masses that never returned.
