Then no, I've never heard him. I would remember that kind of commentary.

It's a shame Danielson and Blackledge both do color. Still, I like Verne.

I think they call it right down the middle. Blackledge is fair. Never gets carried away with one team or the other.

From Oct 15 on, if Verne and Gary are announcers, it means we doin' good. We don't want to be second choice and therefore ESPN.

Franklin/Curry and Franklin/Gottfried were the best in the biz. Didn't fill the air with idle chatter (see Jesse Palmer), rather let the atmosphere speak for itself often. And Franklin's voice will always be synonymous with SEC football for me.

That said, if I had to choose a team from today's game, I'm going Blackledge/Nessler for sure.

I don't mind Gary Danielson. But, goddamnit, I just can't do Verne.

Franklin was solid, Nessler is pretty good. It seems like regardless of who does LSU's games, they are going to mispronounce someone's name along the way, so I have accepted that & move on.

Though I am from Texas, I think Verne's best days are well behind him & hope he retires soon. In his earlier days in the Dallas area, he was far better than he is now. Also, all these years of the beer & buffets are catching up with him.

I liked them too. Blackledge use to be more of an arse. The demotion he had a couple years ago helped him put things into perspective and do a better job.

Like CajunRocks, Ron Franklin was definitely one of my favorites but I agree with you that Todd Blackledge and Brad Nessler are about the best right now for college football and definitely glad they were the announcers for the LSU-TCU ball game.
