After we wreck shite next summer in Brazil and take home the trophy, we should automatically get the 2022 bid.
I'm sure if you ask Sepp nicely he'll agree to this.

In terms of the pitch, this would work because the seats aren't right on top of the football field. However, they would have to enclose the stadium to be taken seriously by FIFA.
Kyle Field is renovating. We are talking about 2022. It's gonna be the tits.

World cup matches here would be so sick.

Late July in College Station? They would have to be at night.

No kidding, I believe it was 110+ degrees (on the pitch) for the Spain - S. Korea match in Dallas (1994).
I don´t think College Station´s stadium as represented in that rendering, looks wide enough.

We have plenty of stadiums around the US to host without any improvements. Mentioning just Texas goes to show how much more superior the US would be than Qatar.

Regardless, the States of Georgia, Alabama and Mississppi ( ) could do a better job than Qatar.

Well I don't see many college stadiums hosting games unless they allow alcohol. Even after that they would be more likely to go to larger cities. I hear the new Falcons and Vikings stadiums will be designed to host soccer.

Why would Kyle Field host games? College football stadiums are generally shite. The only one worthwhile is the Rose Bowl because of the history, but if that Farmers Field (sick as frick potential stadium in LA) comes to fruition, then that could replace the Rose Bowl.
I would pick:
Meadowlands
Field in LA
49ers new stadium
Century link - Seattle deserves it for their love of soccer if they put in real grass
Soldier Field - old but you gotta have Chicago assuming they re-sod
New Falcons stadium
Eagles stadium
Jerry World (with real grass)
I would love to see the Vikings host games, but i do not know if there is enough to see in Minnesota.

- Chicago wasn't even one of the final 18 host cities in the 2022 bid because Soldier Field is too small.
- There would have been other small renovations to some stadiums surely, but no new stadiums would be built other than an Atlanta stadium.
- The Rose Bowl is the only college stadium that was in the final bid, I believe.
- Most cities would have needed some infrastructure work done, whether it be more hotel rooms or renovated highways.
The 18 stadiums/host cities are found in this document (along with the quoted list above): LINK
The 18 cities are:
Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, Washington DC.
They would have possibly reduced that number to 16 or some other number after being selected as hosts. I would imagine San Diego would have been near the top of the list because Qualcomm Stadium is a POS.
------
Basically all of what I said was found in this PDF which was the Bid Analysis that the guy in the reddit post was talking about. I just had to post because some of you guys didn't seem to know what you were talking about.

– All stadiums would meet the pitch size requirements of 105 x 68 metres (pending event-specific adjustments).
– All stadiums would have grass pitches.
– The opening match and final could only be
hosted in the New York, Washington, Los
Angeles or Dallas stadiums.
– Seven stadiums (Dallas, Kansas City, Los
Angeles, Miami, Phoenix, San Diego and Tampa) seem to have limited public transport links to their respective city centres.
– All stadiums would meet FIFA’s seating requirements.
– In general, the stadiums would have to be upgraded to meet FIFA’s space and technical requirements.
- Most cities would have needed some infrastructure work done, whether it be more hotel rooms or renovated highways.

As I understood it, our bid for 2022 was based on a lot of major upgrades to stadiums.
Look if Legion fricking Field can host Olympic soccer matches, the US can plop soccer matches on just about any major stadium in any state and be able to accommodate World Cup soccer.
Legion.FRICKING.Field.
And you're bitching that JERRY WORLD was "too close" to the corners? If Jerry knew the World Cup was coming in the next 6 months he'd have people out there rearranging seats in a blink to make it fit.

I saw gold cup games at reliant and the field looked great

there are like a billion stadiums in the US capable of hosting if push comes to shove. we are obviously the most prepared country in a spur of the moment situation. saying otherwise or even acting like we couldnt handle it is retarded
