Invited there with some friends tonight & that is a place that I've just never visited. All the love seems to be for the bang bang shrimp app & sea bass. What's the F&D board's opinion &/or recommendations for this place? TIA

Chains get hated on around here, but I went to the one in BR a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience for the price point. The food was good, the service was spectacular, and the atmosphere was nice but not uptight.

I can't remember what I ate, though. I remember ceviche and bang bang shrimp for appetizers and they were good.. especially the bang bang shrimp. I believe I had a grilled chicken plate. Lily's Chicken I think. It was good but not very memorable, obviously.

I don't think of this as a chain. A chain is chilli's, Applebee's, and ruby Tuesday. This is head and shoulders above those places.

When your money is going to Tampa, and you live in Lafayette, it's a chain

I believe he's referring to the quality of the product being served. Ruth's is also technically a chain, but it isn't treated as such.

Gotcha, I worked at the BF in BR, and believe me, when the regional reps come around they let you know it's a chain

I live about 30 seconds from the metairie one. Never been, but I drive by and keep wondering when the newness will wear off as there is always a line out the door. It is a chain in my mind.

Definately a chain.

Has decent food tho. I do like the Bang Bang and Sea Bass. Shockingly, the Filet isnt terrible at such a seafood house. Wouldnt be my choice for dinner, but certainly is edible.

If you don't like the Bang Bang Shrimp then you have some real food issues.

I don't care if it's a chain or not. I like most of their menu. Everything is typically cooked really well.
Drinks are good too. At least my experience at the Lafayette location has always been positive.

Go to the one here once every month or so for the mussels app. I've never had an entree there. The mussels are the best mussels around.

The house salad with hearts of palm and that citrus vinaigrette is good.

Not a fan of bang bang shrimp.

It's not like its God's gift to Earth or anything but anyone that snubs nose at bonefish food because it is categorized as a "chain" is either just stupid or a pretentious arse.

Bang bang shrimp you will enjoy, unless it's a YOU problem.

The one time I tried one of the fresh fish entrees, I wasn't really impressed. Then again, I eat alot of fish I catch, so I can be tough to please in that category.

Really good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend single, older guys spend some time at the bar there in Lafayette.

But it's a pretty good one. I've been to that one once and enjoyed the visit.
That place and the Bravo at Lakeside mall are about the only two chains in Metairie I kind of like.
