LINK Look at what's there outside of the top 5 for now. I'm sorry but give me Jrue over any of those guys and Nerlens Noel any day.

Good point. Also, how absolutely sick will Kentucky be next year?!?

PS, this is a great trade for the Pelicans. This thread undoubtedly points out who knows their basketball and those who don't.

Then you just shrug aside how much better Holiday is defensively like it's nothing.

No I didn't.

He's clearly a better a defender, which is the 3rd time I've said it in reference to this point, and at least a dozen times I've talked about his defensive prowess tonight.

Vastly better based on every percentage available.

His 108 oRTG as a rookie is 4 points better than Jrue's career high. Lillard had 5.1 OWS last year. Jrue's doesn't have that much over his entire career.

Most importantly, Lillard is vastly more efficient.

Took about 2 shots fewer a game this year, and averaged over a point more a game.

Anyhow, it doesn't matter. Lillard is a good player. So is Jrue. The point was that Jrue will never likely be an all star again, because he's more on par with people like Lillard than he is with people like Chris Paul and Tony Parker, etc. etc.

and he wont have to take 16 shots a game with the Hornets, since they have more talented offensive players. He'll prob shoot 12x a game, it wont be forced shots like he had to take in PHI.

His assists will prob creep up around 10.

doesn't mean he was more efficient.

Liilard took 3 more 3PA per game, and is an elite FT shooter. It's pretty easy to make that 1 point difference

they have near identical FG and 3pt percentages. Like i said, all Lillard has on him is FT%. To me thats not a "vast" difference

Just checking. Dont really care if Holiday makes an All Star team or not.

quote:

PHI @ POR Game 1

Holiday
29 points
9 rebounds
9 assists
1 block
57% FG

Lillard
20 points
1 block
0 assists
0 rebounds
44% FG

Game 2

Holiday
27 points
8 rebounds
6 assists
1 steal
1 block
52% FG

Lillard
27 points
7 rebounds
7 assists
0 steal
0 block
50% FG

His rebounding is nice, and should help.

Anyhow, I like Jrue, I wasn't trying to shite all over him. He's obviously a good player.

It's not how I would use a chunk of our cash, but oh well.

That's true, but Holliday is on a fair contract and will play with more offensive talent, in a real system, this coming year than ever before. He can get more efficient. He can be a, not the, piece of the triforce for a contender.

All I know is the Pels now have two perimeter guys that you can run pick & roll with, who shoot a decent percentage from 3 and can create shots for themselves and others when things break down.

I couldn't give a shite about All Star appearances.

He comes in and is instantly the second best point guard in the SW division and Tony Parker is getting older.

He's gonna abuse Lin and help guard Harden. He'll be great help guarding Tony Parker. He should be able to get his against Conley, even though I like Conley.

Who the frick will even be the point guard for the Mavs? He'd own Collison and Mike James.

IF Eric Gordon is healthy, our back court is pretty damn good.

True points. I'm definitely excited about his defense.

I'm curious how we will deploy him offensively. A lot have mentioned the poor schemes Collins used in Philly, so I'm curious what Monty will do to maximize his talents, etc.

With Gordon and Anderson, and hopefully a solid wing acquisition, he'll have improved shot makers to give it to.

He definitely needs to be able to get to the line more. He needs to be able to get into the paint enough to draw a double off of a pick and roll and to open up space for shooters. I think he will since he's so damn athletic.

I think having AD, Ryno, and EG will increase his assists too. I wouldn't be surprised to see something like 17/9/4 on less shots/more free throw attempts.

Pick and Roll. That's where he excels, and that's what we do best.

Um, Mike Conley? Age makes it a closer debate, but Conley is the better player right now.

Absolutely this. This is a big point some people are missing. Offensively, this team can do so much different stuff now. You can easily find athletic shot blockers, which is not even the kind of guy this team needs. They need a post scorer more than a Noel type.

Mike Conley is not better than Holiday and I like Conley.
