Misogyny aside, there have been a lot of good female vocalists. Some of my recent favorites:

Chan Marshall/Cat Power
Regina Spektor
Fiona Apple
Bjork
Emily Wells
Neko Case
Anneke Van Giersbergen
Jessicka
Andrea Zollo

And I know it's fun to hate on Tegan and Sara, but I love them, too.

If we're talking solely vocal ability, I'll go with Whitney Houston.

Some others I like:

Erykah Badu
Fiona Apple
Jazmine Sullivan
Stevie Nicks
Grace Slick

Just some that I like, in no particular order. There are others, like Aretha, Mariah, Diana Ross, etc., that are objectively considered better vocalists, but the above vocalists just fit my musical preference better. I feel like I forget/maybe neglect female singers a lot. I'm sure there's a bunch of good ones out there I don't know about.

There were a bunch back in the late 70's disco era. Short lived careers for most though.

I'll throw Rihanna in this discussion. I don't know if I can isolate her vocals when thinking about her, though.
