Why is it that other team's know how to beat us, the announcer's acknowledge how the other team has a "plan" to beat us, but our coach does not recognize this and adjust for this. When you are up against some of the best team's in the nation, there was no plan. I did not hear the announcer's mention how LSU had a plan to beat UCLA or NC. We did not adjust our play to beat these teams.

Errors were made in the UCLA game but the bottom of the 9th, 0 outs, runner on first, down by one. YOU BUNT THE RUNNER OVER TO 2ND!!! You play to tie and possibly win when the game is on the line. BUT NO, Raph has the green light and swings at ball 3 and ends up in a double play.

Yesterday, again. Not advancing the runners, not playing to win. We know we can't blast it out of the park, so we still try. I hate to be negative, but come on. Lay off the high fast ball...bunt the ball. Pinch hit Raph who is in an enormous slump.

You are absolutely right, CPM won 57 games, won the SEC tourney, got to Omaha, and beat Vandy, Miss State, Oklahoma etc. completely by accident and by having no plan.

Doesn't really matter about strategy when you got players who can't come through in the clutch. 13 players left on base. That's more than enough opportunities to win the game.

Guess it's easier to hit when nobody is on base. The clutch gene is missing for some of these guys.

The thread title insinuates that CPM is not a strategic thinking head coach. Obviously you have never listened to CPM after a game.

One thing I enjoy about following Vandy Baseball here in Nashville is you never hear fans criticize head coach Tim Corbin. Everyone understands Tim Corbin is a excellent baseball coach. The players are well coached. But sometimes you just hit a wall and things don't go right.

CPM is an excellent head Baseball Coach. Any fan who criticizes LSU Baseball for the season they just had is just plain dumb.

Then don't be.

We had a crappy ending to a great yr, but every team at the CWS will save one cause all but one will end the yr with a L.

I would have bunt in the 9th as well, but that decision didn't lose the game. Errors in the field and not the dugout cost us that game.

We got 10 hits to go with like 4-5 walks yesterday, but managed 2 runs.

shite happens in sports and this time it happened to LSU.

Seems simple, huh. Watch the pros and see how many fail that simple task.

Each to our own, but I'm never gonna piss on players/coaches who get me to the CWS.

Why don't you go fricking coach the baseball team to 57 wins.

Once again, Shut the frick Up.

Obvious answer is obvious. TV in dugout is needed, so the super secret plan revealed to us.

Someone on here mentioned that Maineri said to the media that he couldn't coach the guys to lay off the high pitches Plutko was throwing.

Even if that is the case don't tell us that please.

I will admit the poster of this could have been full of shite but the way we were swinging as BS pitches letter high and above on Sunday appears to lend some merit to it.

The thing about Raph is he never really crushed the ball or hit it hard the way Katz does. He had a lot of baseball fortune especially last year. Everything fell his way. His luck just ran out.

Because CPM doesn't want to be locked down to small ball. I'm in sort of agreement. We actually bunted more leading up to the CWS. I think CPM is an excellent coach, but I do think he was a littles arrogant going into the tournament. Some of the comments he was making were almost on the side of, "we got this".

3 of our top hitters went 0-24. Let that sink in a bit.

This is simply not true. Watch the replay before making a disparaging comment about a kid. The pitch was a strike and while you would expect RR to handle it properly (hit and run on, hit behind the runner) he wasn't able to - round bat plus round ball moving towards you at 80+ MPH occasionally = crazy / weird shite.

As far as supposedly CPM not having a "plan" for either game and you being convinced of that by the fact that the TV announcers never mentioning it. WOW really just WOW??

All you have to do is read the press conference transcript from CPM after the UCLA and you'll get all the damn strategy you want. He was def thinking strategy in that spot. Maybe he was thinking he had a high contact hitter that is more than likely going to get a fastball to drive and who has also never in his career sac bunted.

Let me go out on a limb and say you don't coach baseball for a living or probably any other sport.

Yeah, CPM strategically leaving 13 runners on base yesterday wasn't a good plan at all.

Which is exactly what Rhymes was going to do until 2-0. Did you not see that? Are you really saying hit and run there was not part of a baseball plan?
