If there aren't white stakes, then I think you'd be within your rights to play it as a lateral hazard.

Guy in my cart took off his shoes and socks to hit out of the water on 15

The guys behind us were probably thinking "do these guys know this ain't the championship flight?"

He was just saying that the property lines are OB lines, marked or not, it's common knowledge

First guy hits it about a foot OB on #13 on the right side of the green. No lines drawn, but its in between two white poles. I call it out and he disagrees. The other guy in our group says "if it was me I'd give it to you". I'm like, "no dude it doesn't work that way - it's either in or its out we don't do gimmes in tournaments". First guy proceeds to call BS and gets upset with the whole thing.... this goes on for 10 minutes, but I don't budge. Two holes later he yanks 2 OB, says F-this, then gets in his cart and WD's. He was pretty upset. What made it more ridiculous was that none of us were in the $$$.

lulz. I'm glad you stood ground.

saw several things I could have called today but don't want to come off like a bitch

usually stuff like putting stance, etc... you give the guy notice that "some people will call a penalty" on that. They usually catch on and stop at that point. They just don't know the rule.

I had another incident on #1 today where the guy hit his ball just outside the trap b/w the trap and the green where it was very sandy and the ball was in the sand. A lot like a fried egg but more breathing room around the ball. Well, ol' boy says "this ball is plugged I get a drop". I was like "nah, I don't think so I can see your ball all the way to the bottom of it. It's a shitty lie but it's not plugged". The other guy i mentioned earlier was like "It's plugged to me - take a drop". I'm looking at these guys thinking "i've got a 5 foot putt - is this good to you too?"

yeah, again, nice guys but playing a round with your buds on the weekend and playing in a tournament aren't the same.

just reminds me that my experience today is a result of my piss poor ability to play golf. never had any experiences like this playing in the lower flights.

Tell me this

Say you're hitting an iron off the tee and don't intend to tee it up

You just drop it on the ground and move it around with your club til you find the lie you want

Doesn't seem illegal, but just curious how the rules interpret that

You're somewhat addressing the ball and moving it with your club

that's a pretty technical question... but in these local tournaments I think it's understood that you can knock the ball around until you find your desired lie.

for clarification on your earlier question, if the ball crosses a lateral hazard and you can't access it - you get a drop. regardless of whether or not it ended up in someones yard.

I did this both days. I don't tee up irons from the tee.

I wonder if it pissed somebody off.

Looking back at my rounds

I lost 1 ball the entire weekend that I jerked OB

I hit 2 bunkers the entire weekend

I kept the ball in play pretty much. Most of my misses were just really fat shots

Eta: I'm pretty sure iheart hit one OB and hit two bunkers on one hole multiple times

Yeah, threeputt and I saw him. I smh.

Alright, let's get down to brass tacks.

L'Augusta. Which weekend? What time? We're gonna have a party.

Then I'm takin' a break for a couple of months.

Unless I play well that day.

That course isn't easy.

If I only get one round in this week, I might be up for a round next weekend.

Dude I couldn't begin to tell you the amount of clubs I saw touch the hazards on that course today... I saw all three of my playing partners touch the hazard with their clubs on the same hole!
