Not sure.
I figured frick it. Nobody else did either, which is what I thought was odd.

Tee shot land inbounds, bounced OB. He drops. He's lying three. He didn't drain the putt. He putted twice. That's a 5.

It doesn't matter. I just thought that was weird to see the other two allow it.

Not to interupt BR's story, but I had an "incident" on the course today involving a ruling, two actually.

First guy hits it about a foot OB on #13 on the right side of the green. No lines drawn, but its in between two white poles. I call it out and he disagrees. The other guy in our group says "if it was me I'd give it to you". I'm like, "no dude it doesn't work that way - it's either in or its out we don't do gimmes in tournaments". First guy proceeds to call BS and gets upset with the whole thing.... this goes on for 10 minutes, but I don't budge. Two holes later he yanks 2 OB, says F-this, then gets in his cart and WD's. He was pretty upset. What made it more ridiculous was that none of us were in the $$$.

If his shot went out on the right side on #4 that is a lateral hazard and he gets a drop.

Since it was a blind shot from the tee, everyone assumed it hit a mound, and rolled out OB. So he dropped.

Got on, putt twice, called it a par.

I hit the fairway, hit the green, putt twice, called it a par.

I guess his par was better than mine.

I find the guys that are dropping high 80's and up really don't understand the rules that well. Which is why most of them think they shoot in the low 80's when they're not in a tournament.

what made it bad was the guy is active LSP. I was hoping he didn't road block my BL drinking arse on the way home.

this guy must have just thought we wouldn't care or notice, in which case he was right.

Next year, when I'm improved and in a higher flight, I'll call shite like that.

You had every right. Your guy was trying to pull some b.s., got called on it, and lost his bearing. Not the kind of person you want on the course in a tournament anyway.

Good ridden.

Got a question about a ruling too

Say where there's lateral hazard between the fairway and houses, like on 12,13, 14

If you hook your ball over the hazard and into the yard, is that considered OB as opposed to hazard?

Guy in my cart said its OB since its past a property line, even if it hits the water and happened to skip out.

I didn't argue bc I didn't know. It didn't happen to anyone, just came up in conversation.

I guess I can see it both ways. Technically you could try and hit it from the hazard, but it wouldn't be legal to try and hit it from someone's yard if you were able to get over there

Nah, screw that. I didn't try to pull anything over on anyone either day. That's b.s. If anything, you laugh it off and be realistic about what's going on.

I saw several things I could have called today but don't want to come off like a bitch

Minor stuff, nothing major

Like an illegal putting stance on a tap in, etc.

The course should be clearly marked, especially for a tournament. However, I'd agree that anything not on the course property would be OB even if a hazard was adjacent to it.

if it crosses a lateral hazard then it's a lateral hazard, not OB. In any one location the golf course is either bordered by a lateral hazard or OB, not both. If you hit the ball left on 13 over the water it is a lateral hazard and you can drop there. If you hit it left on 13 past the water near the green that is an OB boundary and you have to rehit.

Were there white stakes? Yards are OB, you know that. But usually there is a red line going around to where their property starts right? In which case it is definitely OB.

The hazard line was obviously marked, but I've never seen white stakes on the back side of the hazard.

Like I said, it makes sense now that I've thought about it, but before today, it wouldn't have crossed my mind like that.

I would have probably just dropped a ball where it crossed and never thought twice

Same here. I wonder how the top flights dealt with this.

I asked threeputt about this on day one, and he said no sweat. Let it go.
