That was a great game.

My date was hammered drunk and gave me a handjob under a blanket right there in the student section. Good times.

This was the first LSU game I attended. I was five and the whole thing was an acid trip, but I was there.

Sammy Martin was fast, but man was he skinny. How did he not get cracked in half? Between he and Harvey Williams, that was one heckuva speedy backfield. Speaking of Harvey, he grew up near College Station and chose LSU in a made for TV moment on signing day. The Aggie fans have hated their homeboy ever sense.

Six TOs

And every year, LSU would lose to a team they had no business losing to. On the flip side, we also seemed to beat teams we had no business beating.

I think we beat Bama 16-14 that year in Tuscaloosa when we had like 140 yards of total offense.

LSU was never behind by three TDs in that game as was mentioned in a previous reply in this thread.
It went from 14-6 to 21-6, before LSU scored one more TD and missed the 2 pt conversion for the final score of 21-12.
Also, that game was played in an absolute monsoon and mudhole. Miami's last TD was on a long pass that was misjudged by 2 LSU DBs for the INT, and the Miami receiver caught the barely deflected pass and scored. I think his name was Andy Schellinger.

LSU's only other loss was 21-19 to Ole Miss when Browndyke missed a short FG that was set up by an LSU back running to the wrong hashmark instead of up the middle, giving Browndyke an extreme angle for the FG (at that time the ball was placed at the nearest hash mark.)

LSU very well could have been unbeaten going into the Sugar Bowl (which we lost anyway to Nebraska.)

Think that was maybe 84? The 86 game we beat Gumps like 14-10 there. Also, lost OM in TS debacle with missed field goal!

Wow that was some cool film. What a team!
Harvey Williams, Eric Hill, Toby Caston, Michael Brooks, Wendell Davis, Tommy Hodson. Who else contributed alot of PT off this team that played in the NFL?
Hodson was so smooth and accurate, I forgot just how good that guy was.

Did anyone notice the field goal tee?
How did we ever let Bill Arnsparger go to Fla.?

BTW we went to the Final 4 that year as well.

I noticed that most of the crowd was still in attendance at the end of a 35-17 game.

This was my first LSU football game. Freshman at the time, living in Hatcher and have been hooked since. It seemed like the jets dropped down in to the stadium.

This was Hodson's first game and he was a true freshman. He overthrew his first few passes, then was absolutely magnificent.
Arnsparger wanted the AD job and Florida and took it when offered. He hated recruiting.
Not only did we go to the Sugar Bowl in football, the Final Four in basketball, but also '86 was Skip's first CWS team in baseball.

He was a redshirt freshman.

And I think it was Ronnie Lewis that missed the FG vs Ole Miss.

I had just moved from College Station to Austin a few months before this game. I watched it in a bar in Austin with a couple of other misplaced Tiger fans. Yes, Williams was from Hempstead, just a few miles from A&M, and he was not popular in CS with his decision to go to LSU. Great game, and I had a great time razzing my former neighbors in CS. That was a fun team to watch.

Karl Wilson, Henry Thomas, Greg Jackson, Eric Andolsek, Ralph Norwood. Caston, Andolsek, and Norwood all were later killed in separate vehicle related accidents, I believe all prior to 1992.

Nah it was Browndyke. Lewis missed a 25 yarder the year before in TS against Bama, which resulted in a 14-14 tie instead of a win. Because of two chip shot field goal misses in '85 and '86, LSU missed out on consecutive 10-1 regular seasons. LSU then went 10-1-1 in '87 so that would've been 3 in a row. 10 wins in a season in the '80's was big time.

Another tidbit from that video. Both Ralph Norwood and Eric Andolsek are on the OLine. Both would die in car accidents cutting their NFL careers short.

Pretty sure every male Kinchen that was ever born has played for LSU
