same here. bad timing
I didn't mind it. HBO does that with a lot of their shows. Big dramatic moment followed by lighthearted music over the credits.

It was very out of place.
I thought for sure Tywin was going to drop the Tyrion/Sansa marriage bomb and that was the point of the small council meeting but I guess that is coming in an episode or two.

well that wasn't that bad
They need to get The National, one of my favorite bands, to sing more of their songs, especially after RW
the song they sang last season was amazing

I think if the adaptation had been more like that of Rains of Castamere then it would've fit better. It was jarring, but I didn't mind it too much. I like the nods and Easter Eggs (Myrenese knot
) for the book readers.

I liked the song playing basically goes with this new Locke / Vargo character. It showed that it wasn't this big somber moment of tension with Jamie getting his hand chopped but rather a I don't give a frick who you are, whack now go frick yourself with your other hand vibe.

I can kind of get it that's what they were going for, but frick that new character, that scene is about JAMIE, not Hoat/Locke.
It fundamentally changes one of the biggest characters in the series, and I think the music is just weird. It's a shocking/awe inspiring moment, and the regular haunting score would have left me sitting there in silence, whereas the new music jarred me out of the moment and I ended up FFing to the previews.
Just mho

I immediately just fast forwarded to the preview for next week.
Saw your last post in the other thread. I don't think it's a back burner story. Melisandre is going to find the Brotherhood and specifically Gendry who is the second to last Baratheon.

I agree. It's obviously a big moment, but it wasn't somber because I don't think Locke let it be. Kinda why I thought it fit.

Yeah, after the RW would be perfect for a song from The National. Rains of Castamere was great. I think Rains of Castamere was meant to be somber though. This song wasn't. It was even upbeat whenever it was sang in the show.

I've read some reviews, the episode is getting mostly positive praise outside of the Pod scene.
Can't say I disagree, while I enjoyed the tits and sex jokes, it was essentially a waste of valuable time.

To be honest, I think that while George Martin is a very good short story writer and a great novelist, I don't think he really excells as a songwriter.

You don't know this yet. There could be an important reason they didn't take that money.

Chekov's gun and all that...

Yeah, I don't think it was a throw away joke about Pod's wang skills. There has to be something more to that.

That's what I thought was about to happen last night before Ramsay came out.

Even if it does have some importance, did we need to spend 9 minutes of the episode on that extremely isolated scene? With all of the shite going down in Westeros, they could have spent those 9 minutes better elsewhere.

I don't recall them spending 9 minutes just on that. They went into the brothel to gets the books. Then Tyrion discussed that with Bronn. Then they talked to Pod. Those scenes combined might have lasted 9 minutes.
