I don't recall them spending 9 minutes just on that. They went into the brothel to gets the books. Then Tyrion discussed that with Bronn. Then they talked to Pod. Those scenes combined might have lasted 9 minutes.
Yeah the scenes in total were 9 min, or 1/6th of the show. Cant remember what review it was but they broke down the episode into time allotments.

it was the Westeros.org and they included the Theon scenes with that 9 minutes

I don't think that's too bad considering what they found in those books is pretty important. Not to mention I think that pouch will come into play at some point.

Sounds right, they do a really good job or reviewing the episode from a couple different view points.

So 9 minutes including the scenes where Littlefinger was handing over the books?
There was only a few minutes spent on getting Pod laid and then talking about not having to pay. Those scenes also showed us that Littlefinger has been borrowing from Lannisters and introduced the bank of Braavos which will come in to play more down the road.

did we need to spend 9 minutes of the episode on that extremely isolated scene? With all of the shite going down in Westeros, they could have spent those 9 minutes better elsewhere.

This isn't going to happen but i think it would be kinda cool if each episode was centered on one or maybe two characters ala Lost.

I prefer it like it is. IMO these stories and characters intertwine too much to just focus on one character an episode.

I think as the season progresses it will get more like this. Maybe not to the point of just 1 or 2 people, but definitely reduced storylines.
They had to get everyone caught up with all of the various plot lines here in the first few episodes.

Not a big revelation, but interesting thought process from the man himself.

Well the thing about lost was when they did this, pretty much every other character was still in the episode as background characters.
If you would do it with GoT, we would go 4 or 5 episodes without seeing what's going on with different characters.

Ya, that why it would never happen. I just want longer episodes i think. I NEED MORE.

OML
where in the hell do you get that Theon is one of the best archers in Westeros and really what's the point in posting that in the other thread?

OLM is notorious at subtlety trolling the non readers thread.
Jon admits in one of his chapters, while defending the wall as an archer, Theon was a much better hunter and significantly better with a bow.

I don't get it either. I wanted to tell them that that wasn't even in the books, but furthering the conversation is probably not what they want.

Yes, but the idea that he is one of the best archers in Westeros is a far cry from Jon Snow saying he is good with a bow.
