TCU, as they are a early 4 point favorite
Would love to see where that is.

The paragraph at the top of this thread is right on. We have removed huge ego's from the team and those that were bitter with Shep not getting PT!
Just to be clear, your contention is that guys dogged it because Shepherd wasn't getting playing time?

First of all, make a bet for me when you find that bookie.
Our defense will be fine. Chavis is a boss, and we will reload with talent just like we have for the past decade or so. We have some hungry, talented guys itching to get on the field.
I think our offense has been the biggest hindrance to our defense over that time span anyway, and if they can improve a bit under CamCam that will make our defense that much better even if we lost "talent".
Either way, OMFGGMFT!

I agree. Last years D was ready to go to the NFL. They have a lot of hungry starters ready to prove themselves. The D will be on par with last year, maybe better if the O can stay on the field.

I'm seriously wanting to get in on this betting action. 4 point underdog, easy money.

One reason the defense will be improved is that I expect an improved offense. D will not have to defend 100 plays.

Our D was not "excellent" last year. It was good, but I would say chavis's worst unit since he got here. Montgomery, Reid, Simon all took a step back IMO and a ton of youth in the secondary. Next years defense will be better. I have no doubt in my mind.
Btw, minter and lavar Edwards were the biggest losses IMO. But on top of our stellar unit thus far, we have some SERIOUS ballers coming in the fall. Beckwith, tre white, Herron, Gilmore will all play.

Bull shite, true champions motivate themselves because they hate to lose so much that taking a play off or game off doesn't even cross their minds. Do you think MJ ever took a game off? After reading Sam's comments I understood why LSU lost games it should have won. Like the Bama game and the fricking bowl game. How often did they take plays off on practice?
Posted on 3/23/13 at 10:42 pm to NeverRains
Hopefully at least the secondary takes some steps back or we're gonna get torched

Montgomery said himself he was unmotivated except for SC, Bama, etc. You gonna say he was talking bullshite too? Or that he can "carry his arse"?
And Sam's stock dropped like a ton of bricks because of it.
quote:
Besides I never said it was impossible to stay motivated, just difficult to do so after coming so close to making history in college football.
Having to do it all over again the next year would be difficult, I don't care who you are. Especially when you are literally carrying the O almost every game. If you can't see that then you're delusional.
If any of those players actually feel like that they'll be out of the league by December. Half the battle a professional athlete faces is just trying to stay motivated.

All I'm saying is that, in my mind, lack of motivation is the only explanation as to why so many players "took a step back" defensively in 2012. Mingo, Reid, Montgomery, Simon, etc. these guys didn't suddenly lose athletic ability or knowledge of the game. How else, after the dominant year they all had in 2011 do you explain it?
Granted, 2011 aside, I must have also sucked to watch the O go three and out after busting arse on defense repeatedly.

The move over for Reid didn't help him at all. Simon didn't have a bad year. As for M&M, who knows why Sam had his mindset this year but it has already affected his draft stock. If he keeps that shite up he'll be selling insurance in South Carolina in no time. Now Mingo is another story. He had such a great year in 2011 it was always going to hard to keep that pace. However, dude was all over the field week in and week out. He absolutely earned his 1st round grade this year.

Not the case against Bama. Offense did plenty enough to win that game.
