I don't see our defense taking a step back this season.

Let's face it. Last year's group was very talented, but they underachieved. They could have done so much better, but they didn't have want to for some strange reason. Sam Montgomery even said it himself. However this year, teams don't underachieve two years in a row at LSU. I really expect these new guys to come in and own. They're all young, enthusiastic, and want to prove themselves. Plus, you can't get much better than Chavis. Agree?

Difficult to stay motivated when you leave it all on the field during 2011 only to have the debacle and disappointment on 1/9. Not sure I could get up from that, I'd just be ready to move on to the next level.

You will always have some bumps and bruises during the season when you have young pups on defense.

One drive by Alabama from being the NC's -don't think they under achieved.

The paragraph at the top of this thread is right on. We have removed huge ego's from the team and those that were bitter with Shep not getting PT! This defense is highly motivated, talented, and are led by the best d-coord. in college football! Our D-line has experience! We will see when we meet TCU, as they are a early 4 point favorite

Of course not.

If it's okay to be young any where.. it is defense.

They are talented and young. Some would say the star defensive ends under performed for the majority of expectations any ways. The corners now have experience. Should be fine. Linebackers are speedy.

I have high hopes. Lots of unproven talent, but sometimes that's where the next studs have their coming out party and surprise you. When you have guys like Montgomery and Mingo last year, every team knew they had to double team them and gameplan for them. But nobody will know what hit them when Hunter and some of these young linebackers start making their name. Afterall, there was a time when hardly anybody knew who Eric Reid, Tyrann Mathieu, Barkevious Mingo, etc. were.

And that's exactly why you would never make it to the next level.

The D was fine until the Bama loss when all hopes for a championship vanished - had nothing to do with 2011.

That attitude bit us in the bowl game.

Prob the biggest bullshite ive seen posted. You think ohio staye couldnt get up and play after losing to Uf and LSU? frick no. Did bama give up when they lost to uf in the seccg? frick no they went out there and won it next year.

Did the patriots give up when they lost the super bowl? frick no.

If thats the attitude a player has, he can carry his arse. Losing is part of the game.

I sure hope not. They weren't all that good last season.

This season we should have hungrier players in there not just playing for a draft spot.

I don't think the defense was unmotivated against UF or AU. It was the pitiful offense.

Montgomery said himself he was unmotivated except for SC, Bama, etc. You gonna say he was talking bullshite too? Or that he can "carry his arse"?

Besides I never said it was impossible to stay motivated, just difficult to do so after coming so close to making history in college football.
Having to do it all over again the next year would be difficult, I don't care who you are. Especially when you are literally carrying the O almost every game. If you can't see that then you're delusional.
