That's where I went today. Old Time had old picked over looking plants so didn't buy anything there. But they had Creoles.

My garden survived the freeze and is quickly thriving. Getting some rain will help tomorrow.

Dam shame I didn't start a garden this year. Just don't have it in me.

I use a thick mat of hay on the entire garden.
RICE STRAW HAY - has no grass seed.
It blocks wind for small plants, holds moisture in ground, blocks out grass growth, rots and tills well for next year.

Grass seeds is my main concern too. Where do you get the rice straw?

I use roundup with a hand sprayer at the base of plants for weed control. My gardens are big were I use a tractor. Way to big to hoe it. I'm just not doing one this year.

I just use my leaves from the fall for my mulch. I usually have to add more mid summer, but I usually have a shite load of leaves.

Also, the damn freeze killed my entire garden

woke up this morning to an inch of water standing in my garden. Good thing I built my rows high this year.

I built mine up higher also. That also allowed me to dam up the ends and hold some water if we get a dry spell. Hope my bean seeds didn't get washed away. But this was a slow rain, should be ok.

Might want to check the Clegg's by Texas Club for Creoles. That's where I got mine.

sucks. All that work and have to re-do. I wouldn't be happy either.

Dang tree rats dug up a few of my purple hull pea seeds. I guess the cayenne pepper washed away during the last rain. Going to cover that bed with netting until the plants get going.
