Sawdust from a local sawmill. No treated dust at all.

Can't even think about planting yet. Probably a least two weeks away, maybe three.

Got an old pile up by parents, but its better as compost. Mill hasn't been running for over 50.

Didn't even realize that. My ax is right by our fire pit...but maybe that will keep my hens in line and keep em from crapping on my patio.

Damn man, I doubt I could put my six mater plants, 4 squash hills, peppers and eglantine in that Lil patch you got

Nice looking spread man. Your grocery bill is like 2 bucks in the summer I imagine.

This is the first time I have tried to grow anything. Got a 6x6 raised bed. Tomatoes, cucumbers. Cajun belle peppers, jalapeño, and some banana peppers. May be a little crowded, but I think it will be ok.

Mine gets bigger every year. Always find one more thing I want to plant.

You will expand next year.

Ours too. Getting way over blown for just two guys working two gardens and way oversized for two families.

Added citrus trees, much more cucumbers, squash, and zuccs this year. I'm cool with starting our citrus orchard though, right next to one garden, but will morph into full fledged orchard in the next few years.

Weather prevented the final peppers and eggplants to be planted today, so next weekend will be the finished gardens.

Question to all regarding mulch for garden...do any of y'all use hay and any tips for such?

I see you're not supposed to get next to stems, or on rootball, but any tips much appreciated.

I would be leary of hay. It is going to have plenty of week seeds in it. I don't mulch my veggies. But don't see why it wouldn't help.

I was wondering the same thing, but for moisture control. I dress my plants with cotton gin waste. The stuff is great but dries out really fast. I was thinking about coming back with some wheat straw over the top.

No hay as mulch tips?

What about growing blueberries in N. BR area tips?

Bad soil, but how to combat that. Thanks in advance.

I'm so damn late. I hope weather holds out so I can till and plant this weekend. I have a very large area for one clown, too.

Raised bed for the blueberries, they like dry feet.

I'm waiting on some landscape guys to come rip some shite out since me and my shovel are not up to the job.

Planning on putting in a few 4x10 ft box beds.
