I think at this point it's no longer silly to say that 99% of people, and we're talking about a movie going audience that eats up shitty movies, know better than George Lucas. Starting with Jedi, look at what he's delivered. Kingdom of the crystal skull, red tails, prequels, I mean I guess I just want Jedi to fit in with the other 2 movies. Star Wars and empire are so completely different in tone and story but they compliment each other well

Jedi is like a cheap wine cooler to go with your filet mignon. Now once again I'm not saying it's as bad as the prequels. It's really hard to be that bad. I just think George Lucas didnt like that kershner topped him. Just listen to the commentary of empire. It's fricking hilarious how the man just doesn't understand people. I have aspergers and he makes me look like a social master.

I can't say that you are wrong, but I have always really liked ROTJ. To me it is just a fun movie.

However looking back on it critically the movie is easy to pick apart. Especially after seeing the prequels. For example it takes Luke several minutes to defeat a group of guys on the floating barge. Obi Wan is shown in the prequels laying waste to similarity equipped guys in seconds.

Early in the movie Like claims to be a Jedi knight, yet Yoda shoots down this notion just before his death. Luke also seems to be pretty inept in using the force compared to the way it is shown in the prequels. Perhaps this is due to only receiving minimal training.

My biggest question is why was Bobba Fett so popular. He really had minimal screen time in both movies, and yet he has a cult like popularity. I never cared for the way they tried to link this together with him being one of the clones.

I agree with everything Fox.

I remember sitting in my seat at the end of Empire and thinking I gotta wait another couple years for the next one! Empire was unbelievable and set the bar very high.

When Jedi came out, Jabbas entourage, Bobas death, Ewoks, and another Death Star were shockingly bad. I could not believe how disappointed I was after a Star Wars movie.

I learned to like it a little but Episodes IV and V were lightyears ahead of VI.

The power of marketing - at no time during the entire movie is the word "Ewok" uttered.

Okay, My gripe about Lucas screwing with these movies.

He put Hayden Christensan in as Anakin the Force Ghost at the end of Jedi. My question: Why? ObiWan and Yoda look exactly like they did when they passed, but Anakin looks like he did 30 years ago? What for? If Luke really does redeem him before he passes, and he goes back to the lite side, shouldn't he be the guy that got scrapped?

1. To make a different version of the movie you'll want to buy

2. It's an attempt to "bridge the trilogies" I'm pretty good at putting it out of my mind but Georgie isn't content with that. Hey fox, just reminding you what a whiny bitch Anakin really is and that the prequels happened.

My Review of "Return of the Jedi"

I was ready to slam it, but it really wasn't as good as the other two. It really did try to market a more broader commercial audience.

I think the key problem with Star Wars is that they aren't really that good and no one is willing to admit it.

They are such a huge part of the popular culture that any kind of criticism will be rejected and the criticizer will be accused of being a "contrarian" or some shite.

And I'm saying this and yet I was a MAJOR Star Wars nerd growing up. I fricking loved those movies so damn much.

But let's face it, except for Empire, none of them really holds up, and even Empire, while decent, isn't really a great film.

There. I said it.

you can go back and do a RLR-type analysis of the original 3 movies and destroy them

not as bad as the prequels, but you can still destroy them

these movies are sci fi operas for children. they are a part of childhood memories/love. they're not awesome movies (even ESB)

And I see SFP has already said what I stated in my previous post.

Empire has probably the most iconic scene and greatest twist in movie history. I just don't know how it can be proposed as merely decent: LINK

Yeah, but a movie like ordinary people or chariots of fire is waaay better.

Does anyone remember the ideas Lucas had for a sequel trilogy before he decided to condense them? Episodes 7-9 were supposed to be about Luke searching for the other Skywalker who was to be a sister that wasn't Leia. The final battle with the Emperor was also supposed to be in the pit of a lava cave too. I wonder what publicized details of that will show up in the new films.

When you get cut down you become a force ghost resembling the last time you were practicing using the good side of the force.

That's why you never see any Sith force ghosts. It's one of the powers of the light side. Sure, if you are a Sith you can shoot lightning out of your hands, but if you are a Jedi you can live for eternity if you so choose. It all depends on your level of force ability.

Wish they kept it that way, since Leia being Luke's sister is probably the dumbest thing in all 6 films.

Nah, I think the Throne Room from Jedi was the perfect place for the duel to take place. Maybe not on the Death Star persay, but the Throne Room was an incredible showdown environment. You'd just have to question what kind of a person would build a throne room in a room that is likely in the hundreds of degrees, plus its incredibly unsubtle.
