Tracy McGrady
Was healthy all those years he led the league in scoring. His skills didn't diminish until his 30s.

I can see it now. People go back and forth on this board for the next 4 years. Eric Gordon plays a few games, averaging 20ppg, and people say, "You see our record with this guy!!". Then he has some nagging injury and people will say, "He's always hurt!". Then the other side will say, "Give him a chance, you've seen what he can do!". Then we wake up and it's 2017 and we haven't accomplished shite.
ya. the what we could have, optimistic side is nice...but how long can we go with that. why will he never play now, but magically play when the hornets are ready to contend?
it's concerning that we need to be this cautious with a 24 year old's injuries....will it get better? doesn't seem like it.
would love to move on from him...think the signing will go down as a bad one if the hornets don't move him.
terrible attitude. always hurt. hasn't been THAT good when he's played. do not want

Not even close to Peja or Posey. He is still young. Like someone else said, they gave up on a young Chandler. His attitude is concerning though. I'm an introvert myself but I would still be on the sidelines supporting my team.

No shite, his skills diminished because of his injuries. He never played a full season in his entire career. It was downhill at 29 for McGrady. He had an 8 year stretch averaging 26ppg then averaged 7ppg in 3 seasons to finish his career because he had the back of a 70 year old.
Meanwhile, old guys like Kidd, Nash, Pierce, Ray Allen, Andre Miller, Jason Terry, Vince Carter, Jamison etc continue on contributing well into their 30s. Could've been McGrady.
All of those injury prone guys I listed showed flashes of being great. So has Gordon. They just never maximized their full potential due to injuries.

What key Free agents have the Hornets signed since Monty has been here? Not trades, free agents.
Have you actually been paying attention to what has been going on with the Hornets for the last three years? Seriously.
Monty has to show some substantial improvement next year, no doubt. In many important ways, it'll actually be his "second" year with the current franchise.

The proof is in the pudding. His possible games played vs actual games played is becoming a frightening trend. I was optimistic with the whole Gordon thing, but it's getting ridiculous. His knee isn't fully healed to where he can even play consistently. He had the back issue. Now he has a hand issue.
He cannot even sit on the bench during a home game and shows zero passion even when he plays.
Nailed it.
I am an introvert myself but that doesn't mean you can't be passionate about what you do or what you enjoy. You would never see GV, Smith, Ryno, any of these guys not attending a home game because of a hand issue. When he's on the court, there's no emotion, half hearted high fives, no fist pumps, nothing. If you're frustrated with how fans treat you, do something about it. It's hard to succeed in anything when you are not willing to listen to criticism.

Gordon is clearly still rebounding from being dumped by the Clippers. He believed them when they said they wouldnt move him. When they did, it was like his first gf ditched him to date someone else and his heart broke.
He just wants a team to caress his cheek, look deep into his eyes and say "You're the only one I will ever need, baby. I promise I wont leave you like that other bitch. Its okay to love again"

I generally think "He's the GM he knows better than you" is a cop out answer, but in this case I think it applies. I just don't think Demps would have matched if he felt that Gordon's cap space was a more valuable asset than Gordon. The injuries already made people question resigning Gordon and the fan base turned on Gordon completely after the Heart in Phoenix comments, so Dell had the perfect opportunity to walk away from Gordon and he didn't.

So what you're saying is my disappointment is misdirected. It should be at Dell? Sorry Monty, they've been telling me it wasn't your fault.

Not sure if it is mentioned yet, but the major site sportswriters are churning up trade rumors again.
LINK
In particular, Sam Amico claims that the Hornets are open to trading Gordon and that Indiana is a possibility with Granger as the target, but that no talks have been held yet.

Chris Broussard is picking it up as well.

We all know Eric Gordon wanted to sign with Phoenix last summer and many around the league believe he would still rather not be in New Orleans. That's prompted several clubs to call the Hornets about Gordon's availability. Those calls, in turn, led New Orleans to start calling around to gauge Gordon's trade value.
So would New Orleans trade him?
I'm told a Gordon trade this season is highly unlikely, with one source with knowledge of the situation telling ESPN.com this week that, as things stand, there's "less than a 10 percent chance'' New Orleans would move Gordon before the deadline. Still, the fact that the Hornets made calls around the league implies that they are at least warming up to the idea of moving him at some point.
Word is Dallas, Houston and Golden State are among the teams that have inquired about him. Houston envisions playing him alongside James Harden and Jeremy Lin in its fast-paced system, with Harden at small forward.
Of course, both Houston and Dallas view Gordon as Plan B. Both clubs are saving their max cap room this summer to make a run at the disgruntled one, Dwight Howard. If that falls through, the loser(s) will turn their eyes to Gordon, among others.
Gordon is only one of the many options Houston would consider if it can't land Howard. Several executives have said the Rockets have interest in Philadelphia's Andrew Bynum, assuming Bynum returns from his knee injury for a significant chunk of the season's second half and plays up to his typical All-Star form. That might be a big assumption, though, with Bynum's recent comments about still suffering pain in his knee.
Granger is not as available as some would think.
Whatever the case, the Rockets aren't expected to be as active next week as they typically are around the deadline because of their desire to save their cap space for the summer. I'm told they're not in play for Zach Randolph, Danny Granger or Pau Gasol, as has been often rumored.

No, I'm saying your disappointment is premature. Until we get stuck with an unproductive Gordon 2 years from now you have to give it time. Unless someone can give me a realistic answer as to what Demps would do with $33 million in cap space this offseason then Gordon the trade asset is probably better than Gordon's cap space.

This thread does nothing but tell me that Houston is looking to make one of the most underwhelming and underachieving rosters in a long time next year...
Bynum? Gordon? Lulz...Lin?

Word is Dallas, Houston and Golden State are among the teams that have inquired about him.
Beaubois and/or Mayo from Dallas?
Parsons and Toney Douglas would be nice from Houston I guess.
And then I'm not real sure what Golden State would send over here for Gordon, especially considering Klay Thompson plays the same position and has frankly been more effective than Gordon this season anyway.
I really don't like the Granger trade either. Do we really think it's a good idea to trade one injured young player for an injured older player? And one whose numbers are consistently dropping every season for last 3-4 seasons.

There are not any big money FA acquisitions or even trades that I really like over the next few years. Maybe getting Granger as a stop gap while we develop a guy like Otto Porter isn't a bad strategy.

Somebody put this in the trade machine
Milsap to Houston
Gordon to Utah
Burks, Parsons, and Donatas Motiejunas to New Orleans

Granger's numbers dropped, but Roy Hibbert, Darren Collison, David West, Paul George, Dunleavy all came in during the 2 years of his decline in numbers. Rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, 3s, have all remained constant. He's taking less shots and fouls shot since there are more scorers around him.
Before that, he was asked to carry the team, hence the huge scoring numbers.

I dunno, I just feel like we can do better than an almost 30 year old player with dropping numbers coming off of major knee surgery.
