re: Which schools surprise you having low recuriting rankings

Stanford is the most surprising both because they're coming off 3 straight BCS games and because their class last year was so good.
They didn't have many open spots, so the small class is understandable, but they also didn't bring in as many highly rated guys as they did last year when they had 3 5-star recruits.

Stanford took a really small class. They are loaded with upperclassmen.
They will be back up there next year.
Spoke with a coworker who follows them closely and he said the same thing. Only a dozen or so scholarships, however the past few strong recruiting classes are maturing.

is this the first time ever Vandy has out-recruited Tenn?
I never thought I'd see Vandy ahead of Tennessee and Nebraska

Richard Sherman and Toby Gerhart = low level talent?
1. They didn't come in as stud recruits.
2. Those guys weren't the whole team.
3. Sherman wasn't exactly all-anything at Stanford.
4. frick off.

Mizzou is still recruiting like they're in the Big XII. They're 20 spots behind fricking Kentucky.
I think Missouri needs to rapidly readjust their recruiting philosophy. They used to rely on good evaluation and a moderate presence (playing several games a year against teams from Texas/Oklahoma) in Texas to pick up the Texas kids others overlooked. That is really no longer an option for them after leaving the Big 12.
They seem to have targeted Georgia as their "replacement Texas" but I'm really not sure that's going to work out for them. They are competing against a boatload of other schools with closer proximity and bigger football names. Rather than targeting Georgia I think they should:
1) work very hard to maintain their state presence by playing regular games in STL and KC and
2) seek out a way to raise their presence in other semi-regional recruiting areas like Memphis and Chicago.
Recruiting Georgia is just not going to work out very well for them IMO

Stanfurd cuz ESPN told me David Shaw was an awesome top 10 recruiter

Kansas state builds their program very heavily with juco prospects. Kansas has some of the best juco football in the country, so it works for them.

Toby Gerhart was/is the all time leader in rusher in the state of California. If thats not a stud recruit I don't know what is. Like I said some guy behind a computer giving out arbitrary rankings isn't what makes you a stud recruit
I bet Jonathan Martin, Coby Fleener, Doug Baldwin, Owen Mercic, Chase Thomas, Chase Beeler, Zach Ertz etc were all stud recruits in the eyes of Harbaugh.

So? Ronney Jenkins ran for like 600 yards in a single game in high school and his arse still wound up at Northern Arizona.

He wasn't highly recruited either.

Cool, but that doesn't change the fact that they weren't stud recruits that everyone was after.

Being highly recruited doesn't make you a stud recruit. Being highly talented is what makes you a stud recruit.

Mizzou so much for the SEC bump for them

GT has a lot working against it, no big time stud recruit wants 4 years of mandatory calculus and a campus full of asian chicks who aren't hot. they want easy sec schools where they can major in handwriting and take "coloring within the lines 101" as their classes, and walk on a campus full of white sluts who are down with the athletes. sad story but this is the truth these days with recruits.

It's a really good school, in the South, in a big town that could attract a lot of recruits. Even though they did lose 7 games, they competed in the ACC championship and handled up on USC in the bowl game.
And they run the triple option. No big time recruit wants to go there because they aren't set up well to project players to the NFL.

For Texas to be #23 on both Scout and Rivals is truly ridiculous.
You have to consciously recruit against yourself to pull that off.

So humor me. Which player is the stud recruit?
3* Justin Blackmon (choose Oklahoma State over Tulsa)
or
5* Andre Debose(choose Florida over Florida State, USC, LSU, Georgia and every other top school)

Debose. Debose was more talented and more sought after coming out of high school because he was more talented. Recruiting isn't an exact science you mouthbreather. Some players develop later than others. Others don't have the will to succeed. Others just never materialize because they aren't used.
Doesn't change the fact that those Stanford players weren't highly sought after and thus weren't stud recruits.

TEXAS. Stick a fork in Mack he's done. Vandy had a better class
